Samsung is a smartphone giant without a doubt. They have been making impressive phones. They release new models of smartphones of every series, yearly. One of their budget series – the J series – has gained much popularity and according to public demand, we will be comparing the Galaxy J7 2016 and its year-old predecessor.<\/p>\n

Here’s what’s new in Galaxy J7 2016.<\/p>\n

Design and Ergonomics<\/h3>\n

To a light user of smartphones, the design aspect hasn’t changed much. There is barely any difference. The Galaxy J7 2016 is 0.1mm thinner and 1g lighter than J7 2015. Nobody can notice the difference, even Samsung experts won’t be able to point them out, I think.<\/p>\n

But the Galaxy J7 2016 has a nicer metal frame compared to the complete plastic body of the 2015 model. This is the only noticeable difference. J7 2015 comes in an extra color: white, along wth black and gold. J7 2016 only comes in black and gold.<\/p>\n

Software<\/h3>\n

The J7 2016 comes with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and the J7 2015 comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop. The J7 2015 is upgradable to Marshmallow but doing so will slow down the phone. If you’re not too finicky about the software being up to date, I suggest remaining on Lollipop. I have the best interest for my fellow smartphone users \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Hardware<\/h3>\n

The Galaxy J7 has newer and – of course – better GPU for enhancing your gaming and multitasking experience. The processors have a difference of 0.1GHz which is easily negligible. J7 2016 has a 1.6GHz processor while the J7 2015 has 1.5GHz and both have eight cores. The major dissimilarity is the RAM. J7 2016 has an extra 0.5GB of memory for heavier usage and multitasking.<\/p>\n

Camera<\/h3>\n

Both phones have same cameras. 13MP back camera and 5MP front camera. The front camera of J7 2016 has a larger\u00a0aperture (f\/1.9) allowing it to take better low-light photos. Other than that they are pretty much the same.<\/p>\n

Battery Life<\/h3>\n

J7 2016 has 300mAh more in its battery pack compared to its predecessor which surely gives it the edge in battery life. The J7 has an unbelievably good battery life and you can take my word for it. For more details check out the Galaxy J7 (2016) review here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Should\u00a0you upgrade it or not?<\/h3>\n

Perhaps the question you all have been waiting for is whether or not to buy the new Galaxy J7. This question really depends on you, the user! If you’re a heavy user, the extra RAM and bigger battery will come in handy. If you’re a light user and already own the Galaxy J7 2015, you really don’t need to upgrade.
