Ever heard about Lenovo smartphones? Yes, the company is no longer limited to producing laptops only. This Chinese manufacturer recently invaded into the smartphone territory and its proud defenders, one of which is the Lenovo A7000 Plus, are the sole reasons as to how the company has managed to remain in dangerous waters.

Build quality and display

The Lenovo A7000 Plus was made to target the budget smartphone category albeit with good specifications. This gave birth to the concept of “value for money” and this particular smartphone somewhat symbolizes what that means.

The smartphone features a slightly textured plastic back with a more commonly seen front panel that includes three capacitive buttons on the bottom bezel. Nothing special here so let’s move into the statistics behind the display; it features a 5.5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with 401ppi pixel density. This results in a crispy 1080p resolution. Its 8mm width might not be the icing on the cake you were hoping for but 140g weight is a pretty slender amount.

Cameras

The A7000 Plus’s cameras are known to produce excellent results despite being a little short on features. The primary sensor features a 13 megapixel sensor but nothing such as OIS, phase detection or laser autofocus are present here. In all fairness, it’s a tad silly to expect such features in a smartphone worth less than 20,000 rupees but we have seen some manufacturers provide at-least phase detection in similar prices, if not the other two features.

Its selfie camera features a 5 megapixel sensor. We’re not sure as to how will it make peace with the gigantic 5.5 inches display so let’s keep our judgements subject to some benchmark testing.

Hardware and software

The smartphone features plenty of processing power due to the presence of a 1.7 GHz Octa-Core processor with an additive 2GB of RAM. We’re very optimistic as to how will the Android Lollipop perform on the A7000 Plus as Lenovo has been really generous with the amount of clock speed the smartphone carries.

The internal storage banks at 16GB while also expandable through the external memory card slot. Dolby Atmos stereo speakers ensure that this review ends on a joyous note.
