Highlights

LG is hell-bent on making a strong statement in the smartphone world in recent months with its superb G series releases supplemented by the excellent V20. Not long ago had we been served with the G5 but now we’ll be getting to see the all-new G6 hitting the market shelves in its entire prime with an expected launch price of 80,000 rupees and launch date somewhere around the second week of March 2017.

All glass build takes over the G series

The latest G series supremo, unlike any other G series device, will come-in with a dual-glass panel design. By the looks of it, the G6 carries on the legacy of the previous G series smartphones but its new all-glass build is welcome news with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The extremely thin bezels allow a larger display to fit in the smallest of dimensions and speaking of them, the G6 is 7.9mm in width and weighs in at 162g. If you were expecting a slightly thinner device, IP68 dust and waterproofing is the culprit here.

Upping the game in display sizes

While the quality of all previous G series displays has been amazing, the G6 is the first time when a 5.7 inches IPS LCD capacity touchscreen comes into play. Filled with a staggering amount of 564ppi pixel density, the smartphone unsurprisingly features 1440p HD resolution which is a norm in flagships nowadays. We’re baffled about LG using the older Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for the display’s protection and we’ve no clue why did they make such a move in the first place.

Dual-cameras are back again

The G6 features two 13 megapixel sensors at its back panel with nothing but awesomeness up their sleeves. The laser autofocus ensures further accuracy in your photography while benchmark testing has indeed shown the dual-primary setup to perform commendably against the worlds very best.

Speaking of the selfie camera, we’re again confused as to why LG went with a 5 megapixel sensor here. We definitely expected at-least an 8 megapixel one and hope that the secondary sensor won’t become the reason for the G6’s downfall.

Skull-crushing performance

The G6 is powered by an octa-core processor with 4 gigs of RAM. Coming out of the box with Android Nougat, you’ll definitely love the G6’s responsiveness and quick multitasking. Its internal storage stands at 32 gigs while a 64GB variant is also available. A rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB type-C, Quick-Charge 3.0 and a large 3300 mAh battery round-off LG’s premium flagship for 2017.

LG G6 pros:
  • A fairly compact smartphone with a large 1440p HD display
  • Lag-free performance
  • Dual-primary camera setup captures top-drawer photo and videography
  • 32GB internal storage base model
LG G6 cons:
  • We get the feeling that the selfie sensor should’ve been at-least an 8 megapixel one
  • Wireless charging only available in the USA only variant
