So 2016 is history now and LG is already looking forward to 2017 after releasing no less than 4 different variants of the LG K series. The K series is mostly concerned about carrying LG’s mantle in the budget/entry level smartphones category but it remains to be seen if they’re doing that well. Their youngest sibling, the K3 2017 is the cheapest of the lot.

Build quality and display

The LG K3 2017 is one of the cheapest LG devices to date. The smartphone is more of an entry level device from the company and after looking at its specs, we felt a tad disappointed. The smartphone features an all-round plastic build that mimics its other siblings, most notably the K4 2017, that differs from its supposedly more powerful siblings without having the volume rocker and power button at the back panel. Its 132g weight sounds chic but the 9.5mm width is definitely obese.

Displays have always been LG’s thing but the same cannot be said of the K3 2017.The smartphone’s display features a 4.5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 218ppi pixel density. This translates into a rather weak 480p resolution that’ll probably fail to provide a sharp graphical experience despite the relatively small 4.5 inches display.

Cameras

Like displays, cameras have always been LG’s power-points. The K3 2017 features two mini cameras where the primary camera features a 5 megapixel sensor with an LED flash. Its customary features include geo-tagging, touch focus and face detection while the selfie camera features a 2 megapixel sensor. Both the sensors seem a tad underpowered and we’ll have to wait for some feedback to give any sort of opinion on them.

Hardware and software

The K3 2017 is powered by a 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Cortex-A7 processor with an additive 1GB of RAM. You’d likely face frequent lag on the built-in Android Marshmallow as the processing power lacks the necessary punch to run it smoothly. Its internal storage banks at 8 gigs of which around 5GB is available to the user while a removable 2100 mAh battery resides peacefully under the smartphone’s back panel.
