Highlights

With the G4, LG made a statement and made one of the finest Android powered phones out there. The V10 makes some performance upgrades, among others, over the G4 and one of the most notable features on the V10, is the second screen right above the primary screen which acts as a notification screen. Its aim is not to disturb the primary screen by showing the notifications without waking the primary display up.

The design is very similar to the G4 other than the addition of the secondary display. The phone is slightly slimmer than its predecessor and keeps the same button layout. The button layout has become LG’s signature design now with no buttons on the sides and both power and volume buttons on the back instead. This makes it much easier to press the buttons with the index finger in perfect position to access them without having to make an effort in pressing the side buttons.

The V10 has a bigger screen with a 5.7” IPS LCD 2K display over the 5.5” screen of the G4. This means a lesser pixel density but not much of a notable difference as both displays are pretty good. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 instead of the Gorilla Glass 3 on the G4. The V10 has a rugged design and is shock-resistant. It comes with a Nano-SIM slot instead of the Micro-SIM in its predecessor. The secondary display is a 2.1” (160 x 1040 pixels) display that shows the notifications and is supposed to save battery life by not waking the primary display up for everything.

The chipset on the V10 is the same as that on the G4 as LG has decided to stick with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 in order to optimize the software with the chipset and perform much better than some of the stronger devices out there. The RAM, however, has received an upgrade and is now 4 GB instead of the 3 GB on the G4. It comes with 64 GB of internal storage and the microSD expansion slot also goes up to 200 GB instead of 120 GB.

The rear camera is the exact same on the V10 with a 16 megapixels sensor and a wide aperture of f/1.8, capable of capturing some beautiful pictures even at night. On the front are two 5 megapixel cameras both capable of taking great pictures. In terms of video recording, the phone can record 4K video and slo-mo video at 720p of up to 120 frames per second.
