In the last couple of years or so, our country has witnessed the advent of many new smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Lenovo, Infinix etc. Meizu is the latest manufacturer to follow in their footsteps and the MX6 is thought to be a real game-changer for them. Let’s see if its specifications merit its 31,500 rupees launching price.

Commendable build quality

We’ll start-off with the smartphone’s build quality; for a smartphone that costs just in excess of 31,000 rupees, the least we could expect it to offer was an all metal build which it does with aplomb. A smooth, all-round exterior that has its fair share of similarities with the M3 Note especially from the front, we’re reasonably happy with what it has to offer specifically when you consider its diva-ish 7.3mm width.

Display: a cause for even more smiles

The package offered by the MX6 just keeps getting better. This 155g weight smartphone features an outstanding display at its front panel which statistically is a 5.5 inches TDDI capacitive touchscreen with 480ppi pixel density. That equates to a 1080p HD resolution and when you combine that with the large 5.5 inches touchscreen, the results are amazing as you simply won’t see any pixelated or degraded graphics atop the large display at all. Thank Meizu for this sharp and detail-savvy display.

The cameras represent a mixed bag

All well till now, isn’t it? It’s time to dissect what people care the most about in a smartphone in Pakistan; the cameras. The MX6 features a reasonably good and powerful primary camera sensor but when it comes to its selfie sensor, things aren’t that good.

The primary camera features a large 12 megapixel sensor with an LED flash and phase detection autofocus. Having phase detection and autofocus in a camera sensor simply pushes its prowess to another level altogether so we’ll advise you to enjoy your video and photography to the fullest as the MX6 won’t let you down.

The selfie sensor on the other hand features a rather small 5 megapixel sensor. We did expect an 8 megapixel sensor here in all fairness but let’s not judge it too soon for small people have done big things in the past. Maybe the selfie sensor is one of them.

Lag? What lag?

If it was lag you were worried about, you need to chill-out as the smartphone is powered by an octa-core processor with 4 gigs of RAM. That’s quite some power to run the build-in Android Marshmallow so lag will find it almost impossible to stop by. The device’s internal storage stands at 32 gigs but there’s no external card-slot so you’ll have to make do with it.

A fingerprint scanner, USB type-C and a non-removable 3060 mAh battery are its other notable features while you also get the choice to pick out the MX6’s exterior from 4 different colour schemes. Is the MX6 value for money for 31,000 bucks? You decide.
