The Oppo F1 Plus is the latest in Oppo’s series of camera-first, near-high-end F series. The F1 Plus is a beefier version of the F1, with a bigger screen and a slightly improved camera. Let’s discuss this phone’s features one-by-one.

A metal body offers an amazing design. After years of trying plastic and metal and glass, and various mixes, phone manufacturers appear to have come to the correct conclusion that a metal body is the best. We like this on the F1 Plus, too. Its front is dominated by a 5.5” Full HD 1080p AMOLED display. It is protected by Gorilla Glass, so expect decent durability.

Being camera-focused, the Oppo F1 offers the best-in-class optics. A 13MP camera with a fast autofocus and a competitive f/2.2 aperture. What’s more impressive is its 16MP selfie camera that we believe is the highest megapixel front camera in any device on the market. Full HD video record is available on both sides.

Here’s where things get a little less interesting, however. The 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek chip isn’t as competitive as the top-of-the-line Snapdragon chips. It’s satisfactory for the price, but other devices tend to offer Snapdragon CPUs that are generally faster. Thankfully, the included 4GB of RAM is huge! You will be able to switch between loads of apps without them loading again from the start. The battery is also competitive, coming in at 2,850mAh. We genuinely appreciate the 64GB of internal storage. That’s more than the usual 32GB storage that’s offered in the base model.

Software

 

Android 5.1 Lollipop is what comes out of the box, but it is upgradeable if you prefer staying on the bleeding edge of Android. Oppo’s tasteful ColorOS 2.1 is added on top as a customization layer. It’s similar to TouchWiz on Samsung Galaxy device.
