Highlights

Samsung was the world’s highest revenue generating and valuable smartphone company for a good period of time, only to be toppled by Apple in recent times. The secret to its success was producing powerful devices that were supported by excellent user friendly Android software. Furthermore, the policy of developing both expensive and low cost smartphones made it a hero among people who couldn’t afford much.

One of Samsung’s latest introductions, slowly replacing the Samsung Core smartphones, are the J and A series. The A series comprises of medium to high range smartphones and the J series contains low to medium priced smartphones. These two series are an excellent increment on the lower end smartphones Samsung has been producing, both in terms of performance and specifications. Without further due, the Galaxy J2 ladies and gentlemen.

The Galaxy J2 is a low priced smartphone that is sure to be a good selection for people whose budgets don’t allow them to spend thousands of rupees. A Super AMOLED capacitive 4.7 inches 234 ppi pixel density display is one of its customary features. The phone weighs in at 129g which is very light indeed.

It is powered by a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 processor supported by 1GB of RAM which is fine but not good enough to give you a lag free experience for a long time. However, storage will probably never be an issue as the Galaxy J7 has 8GB of internal storage but can be externally expanded to as much as 128GB to keep your smartphone going and going.

Regarding its camera, 5 megapixels and f/2.2 aperture for the primary is a disappointment. So is the 2 megapixel and f/2.2 aperture lens for the front facing camera. The camera’s megapixels and the display size simply do not go together. The Android v5.1.1 Lollipop is its operating system and the removable Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery is a pretty nifty thing to have as you can replace a worn out battery and keep the J2 going on good battery performance for a long time.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 is a neat device to play with when you’re short of cash. However, it is going to lag sooner or later so that might just be a stumbling block in going for it, as is the problem with most other cheaper Samsung smartphones.
