If there’s a brand that no longer needs any introduction despite being a relatively new one, it’s Xiaomi. The Chinese manufacturer has taken our local market by storm and the Mi Mix can rightfully be called as the smartphone of the future. Why? Hold your horses for now and content yourself with its price-tag of 60,000 rupees before we jump into its details.

The first, nearly bezel-less smartphone from Xiaomi

We mentioned something about the Mi Mix being the smartphone of the future; by that we meant the smartphone features a design that seems pretty close to what future smartphones would look like. We’re talking about a nearly bezel-less display that originates all the way from the top of the device’s front panel and into the thin front-bottom bezel.

The display’s schematics include a large 6.4 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 362ppi pixel density. The display’s size undoubtedly puts the smartphone in phablet territory while its 1080p HD resolution further ensures that you don’t need to go anywhere if it’s a large and graphics-savvy smartphone you’re looking for.

That was all about its front. When it comes to its back, a glass panel sits carefree atop it while dimensions wise, an expected 209g weight and 7.9mm are acceptable. No dust and waterproofing though which means you should keep the Mi Mix as far away as possible from any liquids whatsoever.

The primary camera is as big as its display

If there’s one thing that stands toe to toe with the display size of the Mi Mix, it’s the phablet’s primary camera. The sensor features 16 MP worth of power with camera features that include EIS, phase detection autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, HDR, panorama etc. allowing it to capture good quality photos. However, some reviews have suggested that the primary sensor lacks premium capability and its 16 MP sensor falls short of what its specs suggest on paper.

The cameras department is synonymous to Earth’s poles as they’re quite different from one another in size but are said to be a-tad lackluster in performance; the 5 MP selfie sensor is by no means adequate to produce good results atop its large display and this isn’t the first time Xiaomi’s been greedy with its secondary cameras.

The phablet is powered by a quad-core hybrid processor with 4GB of RAM. Coming out of the box with Android Marshmallow but upgradable to Android Nougat, the smartphone possess enough power to serve you with a lag-free user experience.

The device’s internal storage is again as big as the display with a 128GB base model while its more power-packed variant features 256GB of internal storage with 6 gigs of RAM. A rear-mounted fingerprint scanner allows easier unlocking while USB type-C, a large 4400 mAh non-removable battery, Quick Charge 3.0 and two colour schemes (black and white) ensuring the phablet complies with all modern requirements.
