Other than Samsung and Meizu, Xiaomi’s also coming up with two new Note devices come August 2017 namely the Redmi Note 5A and the Redmi Note 5A Prime. Focusing on the Redmi Note 5A for now, the device somewhat lives up to its promise for being a bang for buck device with a price-tag of 16,000 rupees.

Designed purely the way Xiaomi likes

The smartphone features a polished all metal unibody design with excellent dimensions. The phone feels lighter than its quoted weight of 150g which is commendable in itself while its 7.6mm width is also splendid.

Living up to its Note-ly expectations, the Redmi Note 5A features a 5.5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 267ppi pixel density. We’ll understand if you were hoping for a 1080p HD resolution here but the pixel density suggests it’ll only be supporting a 720p resolution.

Nothing surprising in the cameras department

We’re not sure if the smartphone’s an upgrade on the Redmi Note 3 as far as the cameras department is concerned; the Redmi Note 5A commands a 13 megapixel primary sensor with phase-detection autofocus while the selfie sensor definitely needs some improvement as we’re only seeing a 5 megapixel sensor here.

Customary hardware

The smartphone’s powered by a quad-core processor with 2GB RAM. Running Android Nougat, the device’s other notable features include 16GB of internal storage, external card-slot, a non-removable 3080 battery and three colour schemes.
