I remember the Desire series from since the very beginnings of Android starting to dive into the mainstream market of smartphones. The series has evolved over the many years since its inception and is still very HTC in its roots. The designs never seem to disappoint as is the case with the new HTC Desire 626. The phone is an improvement over the HTC Desire 620 released a few months prior to the release of the Desire 626.
In terms of design there isn’t much of a difference on the front but a slight change on the back. The camera is now on the upper left instead of the upper middle part of the back. The phone has a 5” (720 x 1280 pixels) HD display. The screen supports Multitouch and, being an HTC device, runs the HTC Sense UI. The phone comes with the option for a Dual SIM variant.
Under the gorgeous façade is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset. The chipset has a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 onboard with Adreno 306 graphics processing. The phone comes in two options with 1GB and 2GB of RAM respectively. The internal memory of the phone is 16 GB and it has no microSD memory expansion slot.
In the camera department, there’s been a significant improvement. The new device now has a 13 megapixels sensor, capable of taking beautiful pictures in the outdoors. It can also record videos at 1080p at 30 frames per second. The phone has a 5 megapixels camera on the front for video calls and selfie needs and is capable of recording full HD video as well. The rear camera has been the most notable change over the 8 megapixels of the predecessor.
The phone doesn’t really improve much in the battery department since the phone had to be fit into the same price bracket as that of its predecessor. The phone only being a couple of months newer than the Desire 620, there could only be small changes to keep it at a similar price. Hence, no improvement on the battery amperage.
