If you’re looking for a smartphone that can just about do the job for you without creating much of a fuss, the Huawei Ascend Y520 is the one you should probably take a look at. Not quite one of Huawei’s most prodigious sons tasked with the responsibility to take up the mantle and compete with the best in the business out there but it may just do the job for you as a sidekick.

Huawei has somewhat developed a reputation as a company who is focussed more on creating budget smartphones. We came across a lot of Huawei’s smartphones that fell in similar price brackets and only differed from each other by one or two features. Some primary examples of it include many other Y series phones such as the Ascend Y550, Y330, Y320 etc. The Y520 is on the same conveyer belt and doesn’t really differs from its successors and predecessors that much.

The Ascend Y520 has a 4.5 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a pixel density of 218 ppi. We don’t really know as to how the 218 ppi and 4.5 inches touchscreen would work together but let’s hope for a nice graphics quality, if not an excellent one. The processor is a Dual-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 powered by 512MB of RAM. The A7 processor is one of Huawei’s most consistently used ones and it’s no surprise that they have placed their faith in it again but the 512MB of RAM should now be abandoned as it is simply inadequate to cope with what the world demands now.

The cameras come in at 5 megapixels for the primary and VGA for the secondary. The cameras are well covered as most smartphones either ditch the secondary camera or go for 2 megapixel primary sensors in this sort of price. The internal storage stands at 4GB which can be expanded up to 32 gigs through the external card slot.

With that, we come to the end of this brief review of the Huawei Ascend Y520. Its cameras are definitely something to cherish and the display is adequate enough making it an overall fine choice to consider.
