Another premium-featured mid-range competitor from Huawei is the dual sim Honor 6 Plus. As the name suggests, the phone is an upgraded version of the previously released Honor 6. These devices are among the ones that are shifting the focus from flagships to the mid-range series; offering premium specifications and features in a price that is far less in comparison to the flagships.
Looking at the build of the phone, the 6 Plus is bigger since it features a 5.5 inch screen instead of a 5 inch one (as found on the Honor 6), but is of the same thickness, making the phone still easy to hold and use. The 5.5 inch screen is protected with Gorilla Glass 3 and packs a resolution of 1080p full HD at a pixel density of 401ppi, justifying the larger screen. The body is still made of plastic but quality wise, it still feels as premium as a mid-range phone could be.
Huawei also replaced their in-house built HiSilicon Kirin 920 chipset with the Kirin 925 which is an upgraded version of the previous one and offers better performance. The CPU is given a minor upgrade as well, adding an extra 0.1 GHz of processing power to its Quad-core Cortex A15 while keeping the other Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 the same. The previous GPU follows through in the newer device, as well as the phone's 3 GB RAM. The internal memory is also kept the same, with two versions of the phone available (one with 16 GB and the other with 32 GB). Though Huawei has increased the microSD storage limit to 128 GB instead of 64 GB (as found on the Honor 6).
The camera on the phone is another story, however, with the phone being given a unique Dual 8 megapixel camera at the back instead of the older 13 MP single camera sensor. It is said to produce an image as big as the 13 MP one, but offers more detail, light and depth-of-field features as compared to the previous one. The front camera is also an 8 megapixel sensor which is more than enough for an average user's needs.
The battery of the phone is increased from 3100 mAh to 3600 mAh, which gives the phone enough juice to last out a day without any issues. The phone, though comes with Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) out of the box, but is planned to be upgraded to 6.0 (Marshmallow) in the near future, increasing its lifetime as well as keeping it a neat competitor in the mid-range market. A lot of reviews have already stated it as one of the best phones in this price range, bridging the distance between mid-range and premium flagship devices.
