Smartphones are marketed in various names. There’s the A and J series of Samsung while HTC uses the Desire and One to draw people’s attention to their releases. However, the one name common to many smartphone manufacturers are the Plus models and we’re here to talk about them; ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for the Huawei Nova Plus.

Build quality and display

The Huawei Nova Plus is the larger of the two Nova smartphones due to release sooner rather than later. Like most other people would predict, the Plus model would only comprise of small differences from its smaller counterpart. Such is not the case with the Nova Plus as not only it houses a host of different features; its design is completely different as well.

It features a metallic unibody build similar to Huawei’s Mate8. Its display features a 5.5 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 401ppi pixel density which translates into a lovely 1080p HD resolution. The smartphone is 7.3mm at its thickest while a 160g weight does seem a tad more than what it should’ve been.

Cameras

Before we begin dissecting its cameras, we’ve always found Huawei’s cameras to perform extremely well. Let’s see if the Nova Plus is of a similar mettle or not!

Its primary camera features a 16 megapixel sensor with some spectacular features which include OIS, phase-detection autofocus and a dual-tone LED flash. These specs culminate into excellent photography and video recording of which even Huawei would be proud of. Its selfie camera features an 8 megapixel sensor which also seems finely poised to produce detailed selfies.

Hardware and software

The Nova Plus’s hardware features many similarities to its smaller counterpart. These include a similar 2.0 GHz Octa-Core Cortex processor with 3GB of RAM and built-in Android Marshmallow. No more lag to worry about as the 3GB RAM and 8 processing cores combine to devastating effect. Its internal storage banks at a satisfying 32 gigs. Fingerprint sensor, Fast Charge technology and USB type-C are its other notable mentions while the large non-removable 3340 mAh battery will easily provide more than a day’s battery life.
