Huawei Y3II was announced in early 2016 as a budget smartphone, priced around 10,000 rupees. These budget smartphones are targeted for every user. With such a cheap price, people lunge for it wherever they see it. This phone mainly rivals the Galaxy J1 Mini from Samsung.

Design and Display

The Y3II is not your thinnest or lightest phone. It weighs 150g and is 9.9mm thick. Thickness can be forgiven but it should have been lighter at least. The back of the phone comes in a nice glossy finish. The back panel will always complement the color, no matter what it is.

It has 4.5” display with 480p resolution. It has 218 PPI pixel density. These display specifications are good enough for your occasional video on Facebook or Twitter. The colors may seem pale with varying viewing angles. 

Camera

It has a 5MP back camera and 2MP front camera. Comparing it to the J1 Mini, the front camera is much better. The J1 Mini has mere VGA quality front camera. The back cameras are more or less pretty much the same. But, the Y3II doesn’t record good quality video. The J1 Mini has the ability to shoot HD video.

Hardware and Software

The Huawei Y3II has 1GB of RAM along with 8GB of built-in storage. Space can be expanded for heavy users courtesy the microSD slot. There are two models, a 4G, and a 3G model. The 4G model comes with a Quad-core 1GHz processor while the 3G model comes with a Quad-core 1.3GHz processor. The Y3II comes with a 2100 mAh battery pack (Removable), 600mAh more than its fellow rival, the J1 Mini.

It comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop along with Huawei’s Emotion UI. I always prefer stock Android, the same as you get with the Nexus series and the Moto G. Nothing else is noteworthy in terms of software. No gestures or apps that will catch your attention. You have to remember that this is a cheap phone, you won’t get everything for this tiny price.
