Highlights

We all know as to why Huawei has turned into a genuinely loved smartphone manufacturer. It has thoroughly conquered all smartphone price brackets with some excellent releases and has always stayed true to its greatest quality; we’re talking about value for money. However, when it comes to the Y5II, we're not quite sure what to rate it as it seems to fall short on what Huawei is all about.

Display and build quality

The Huawei Y5II targets the lower ranges of the price bracket so this comes to no surprise that the smartphone features a plastic build. However, the back can easily be misinterpreted as being metal due to its fine finish for which credit duly goes to Huawei in making that possible.

Its display features a 5.0 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 294ppi pixel density which allows 720p resolution. We deem this resolution to be satisfactory as this price bracket has a knack of banking on 540p resolution as well. Nothing special about its width though as it’s pretty bulky at 8.9mm.

Cameras

The cameras department is where the Y5II seems to gain a little more respect. The primary sensor features an 8 megapixel sensor with an LED flash. We’re wondering where the customary face detection and touch autofocus features have gone but considering Huawei’s camera prowess, we’ll hold up on any negative comments regarding the primary sensor.

The selfie camera features a 2 megapixel sensor which seems rather lowly but a front facing LED flash should do well in calming your nerves down.

Hardware and software

The Y5II isn’t what you call a power-packed smartphone. Though the Quad-Core 1.3 GHz Cortex processors seem like a lot of clock speed, it isn’t complimented well at all by its RAM which stands at a miser 1GB. 2016 isn’t supposed to see this amount of RAM in a latest release which leads us to label the Y5II as more of a disappointment. Lag is sure to regularly stop by which ensures that the built-in Android Lollipop will keep you waiting more often than not. The battery, though removable, doesn’t really guarantee good battery life as 2200 mAh is a very normal amount.
