We’re all well aware that Huawei’s strength lies within giving more in less. The Y7 Prime 2018 is another example of that strength with some superb specifications within an affordable expected launch price of 20,000 rupees. The smartphone succeeds the previous Y7 Prime with aplomb!

Design sees some nice tinkering

Having excellent specifications in affordable prices is one thing and the company making efforts to improve the outlook of their devices is a good omen for the future/present. Previously, bar its most premium devices there was very little to choose between the way Huawei designs its devices. The Y7 Prime 2018 brings something new to the table as far as its designing is concerned with a metal design that takes inspiration from its brethren. Dimensions wise, we’re talking about an immensely improved 7.8mm width and 155g worth of mass which is pretty much within the realms of acceptability.

Larger displays coming into the mainstream!

The Y7 Prime 2018 shelters a large 5.99 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 269ppi pixel density. This equates to a 720p resolution that does well on devices below 5.2 inches in size. But when it comes to large displays like the Y7 Prime’s, we’re not a 100% sure as to how will it stack-up. That being said, we’re optimistic considering how well Huawei’s displays have been doing up till now.

iPhone 7 Plus shaped primary camera

While going through its specs sheet, we were quite unsurprised to see the smartphone featuring two nifty cameras particularly the primary camera; it features an excellent 13 + 2 megapixel dual sensor with phase detection autofocus and an LED flash. Granted its customary camera features such as geo-tagging, face detection, touch-focus, HDR and panorama, the aforementioned phase detection autofocus is what’s the difference maker here.

The selfie camera features another commendable 8 megapixel sensor that somewhat breaks Huawei’s obsession with 5 megapixel sensors. So, the cameras department seems all good.

Power aplenty atop the Y7 Prime 2018

The Y7 Prime 2018 is powered by an octa-core processor with 3 gigs of RAM. That’s more than enough to smoothly run the built-in Android Oreo so if you were looking for a silky user experience, the Y7 Prime 2018 may just be the affordable device you’d want. Its internal storage standing at 32 gigs is music to the ears as you simply won’t have the OS grabbing 5 gigs of space any problems at all.

A rear-mounted fingerprint scanner takes its customary place atop the device while the Y7 Prime 2018 is juiced by a 3000 mAh battery that does well to produce some adequate battery life. Last but not the least, three colour schemes namely black, blue and gold ends the Y7 Prime 2018’s resume on a high.

Huawei Y7 Prime 2018 pros:

Bang for buck for its price
Excellent dimensions and build quality bring a tinge of premium-ness to the smartphone
The two sets of cameras are undoubtedly the Y7 Prime 2018’s most prized assets
Adequate amount of processing power for the Android Oreo to feed on
32GB of internal storage is as we said, music to the ears

Huawei Y7 Prime cons:

The display’s size is good but the resolution could’ve been better to put any rumours of pixelated graphics out of question
