Lenovo’s Vibe series has been causing quite a stir among the smartphone users and is one of their most successful ones with growing sales in the recent times right beside other successful Chinese smartphone vendors. The Vibe P1M is a lighter version or a smaller brother of sorts to the Lenovo Vibe P1 and was released alongside its elder sibling. It is targeted towards a more affordable market with lighter specifications than the Vibe P1 and is certainly a good contender among the low-enders.
The Vibe P1M, released in late 2015, is a Dual SIM capable phone that supports LTE, 3G and 2G networks. It boasts a 5” IPS display at 720 x 1280 pixels which means a lower than, now, usual pixel density and not the crispest of displays but certainly a good one in the price range of the phone. It supports multi touch of up to 5 fingers, which is half of what is found on the P1. The screen is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Both phones have a dedicated slot for memory expansion but according to their specifications, the P1M can only go up to 32 GB which is less than the 128 GB option on the P1.
The P1M is powered by a Mediatek chipset which is half the power of its elder brother as it only has a quad-core processor on board compared to the 64-bit octa-core on the P1. The quad-core Cortex-A53 on the P1M is clocked at 1.0 GHz, accompanied by a Mali-T720MP2 graphics processing unit and 2 gigs of RAM. The phone comes with a single option in terms of internal storage at 16 GB of memory and isn’t bad at all for its price.
The camera on the P1M is an 8 megapixels sensor that is capable of taking good pictures with an f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash. The video recording is a bit of a disappointment, however, as it is only capable of recording 720p video and not Full HD. The phone does manage to get a secondary camera though, and a good one at that with 5 megapixels of picture size.
The Vibe P1M has a huge battery with 4000 mAh of juice in the back of the phone and although it is non-removable, it does feature fast charging. It is easily capable of going into the second day with mild usage.
