Highlights

Motorola can rightly be called as one of the Legacy smartphone manufacturers as they’ve existed in the smartphone business for quite some time now. We can easily remember the days of the Motorola Razor being a darling of men/women around the world and fortunately, unlike Nokia the company made a timely transition to smartphones thus giving them a greater chance of surviving in this cruel smartphone world; the Motorola Moto G4 anyone?

Build quality and display

The Motorola G series has mostly targeted the lower-mid to budget smartphone categories but its devices contain some of the most powerful specifications to be found within these prices. We were thoroughly impressed by the combination of the Moto G’s price with its specs and we’re optimistic that the Moto G4 follows similar patterns.

The smartphone’s build features similar lines to its predecessors with the device entirely comprised of plastic with a tablet shaped hump on its back supporting the camera and LED flash. We’re not happy about its 9.8mm width though which is too much for our liking while its 155g weight might calm some nerves down.

The Moto G4 features an excellent 5.5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 401ppi pixel density. This allows a gorgeous 1080p resolution that has some impressive graphical performance in-store for its users.

Cameras

The Moto G4 features two large camera sensors with a knack of producing some excellent results; the primary camera features a large 13 megapixel sensor with a dual-tone LED flash while its more modest 5 megapixel selfie sensor is not to be taken lightly at all. It’s a thumbs up for the G4’s cameras from our side, what about you?

Hardware and software

The G series has not been G-reedy at all with its hardware and the Moto G4 is another example of it. The smartphone is powered by a nice combination of an Octa-Core processor with 2GB of RAM. This is quite some power and should not pose any issues to the built-in Android Marshmallow.

The smartphone’s internal storage banks at 16/32 gigs while also featuring an expandable memory card slot. No fingerprint scanner here but a large 3000 mAh battery and an excellent price are some of its biggest attractions.
