Motorola had gone dormant for a couple of years some time ago and we’re slowly and steadily seeing the company return to its very best. Apart from its merger with Lenovo, the company has produced some excellent stand-alone devices that are extremely breathtaking. One of its most prodigious sons is the Moto G4 Plus. Let’s see where it stands in its quest for the top!
Build quality and display
If you don’t know the meaning of Plus smartphones, here’s a head-start to increase your general knowledge. Plus smartphones are mostly larger/more powerful variants of an existing smartphone which can be less to very pricy compared to their smaller siblings. Such is the case with the Moto G4 Plus as it features some nice improvements over its predecessor, the Moto G4 but on the other hand isn’t that pricy either.
The smartphone’s build however remains almost similar to the Moto G4 with a plastic body while it also retains its fatty 9.8mm width but a satisfactory 155g weight. The device features a 100% identical display to the G4 with a 5.5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 401ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. 1080p resolution duly follows through while also promising excellent graphics as well.
The cameras department is where the Moto G4 features one major difference from its predecessor; the G4’s primary camera features a vastly improved 16 megapixel sensor with some powerful features which include OIS, phase detection and laser autofocus plus a dual-tone LED flash.
The selfie sensor remains grounded at 5 megapixels but we’re thoroughly impressed by the extra zip Motorola has injected in the smartphone’s primary sensor.
Hardware and software
The hardware and software category also sees some noteworthy differences between the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. The latter is marketed in 3 variants that all contain different RAMs and internal storage; the most lightweight of these features 16 gigs capacity with 2GB RAM, the next features 32GB with 3 gigs of RAM while last but not the least, the heavyweight features 64GB internal storage plus 4GB of RAM. Beware built-in Android Marshmallow!
Other than these, optional dual-SIM, Fast Charge technology and a large 3000 mAh non-removable battery are its other notable mentions.
