Microsoft capitalizing on the low-end market they had acquired thanks to some really good devices in this price bracket, decided to launch some more similar phones in 2015. Microsoft released a very similar device in the Lumia 435, earlier in the year, and decided to give the phone another go with very slight changes to maybe offer a different looking a phone to the market, in Lumia 430, with a bit of the same hardware underneath.
The Lumia 430 is different, in terms of looks and design, as the phone takes a very similar look as that of Nokia’s Lumia 530 and is also slightly lighter and slimmer than the 435. The phone has the same 4” screen with the same 480 x 800 pixels resolution. It also provides the same options in terms of internal memory with an 8 GB of storage which is expandable up to 128 GB via a microSD slot.
The Lumia 430 comes with Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 but will be receiving an upgrade to Windows 10, just like the Lumia 435. It is even making use of the exact same chipset in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 with no changes to the processor or the GPU whatsoever. It comes with a dual-core Cortex-A7 processor, Adreno 302 graphics unit and the same 1 GB of RAM.
The cameras are very similar in megapixels and other capabilities but the rear camera does receive a slight advantage in terms of aperture as it has a much wider aperture and will be able to capture better pictures even in low light conditions. On the rear is a 2 megapixels camera and on the front is a VGA one, both capable of recording videos at 480p.
The phone has almost the same amperage as on the Lumia 435 with just 60 mAh behind the 1560 found on the 435. The battery is still pretty good to get a day’s use quite easily. The phone isn’t much different to the Lumia 435 other than a slight change in the camera, battery and the design. If you’re the type of person who wants a newer device, even if it has the same set of hardware, then the Lumia 430 is for you.
