Nokia’s rebirth sees the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 among others burst onto the scene. Focusing on the Nokia 5 for now, the smartphone was announced on the 2017 MWC in Barcelona and it’s expected to reach our shores by mid to end March 2017 with an expected launch price in the vicinity of 30,000 rupees.
Nokia and sumptuous build quality are two terms that go very well with another. The company’s known for its aesthetics department and the Nokia 5 seems to have spent quite some time in there. The device features an all metal body with a sturdy metal frame separating the front and back panels. Its 8mm width unfortunately is a little thicker than what we hoped for especially when you consider the smartphone lacks dust or waterproofing. That’s the one point Nokia should work on for the future.
We’re not completely overwhelmed by the Nokia 5’s display; it’s a 5.2 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 282ppi pixel density. Leading to a 720p resolution, we’re not completely wrong if we expected 1080p resolution here. That being said, the display holds enough quality to fully cater for your everyday graphics.
The Nokia 5 holds a powerful 13 megapixel primary sensor with hunky features that include an f/2.0 aperture sized lens and phase detection autofocus. We’re very happy with the initial responses we’ve read about its performance and a dual-tone LED flash adds further greatness to your snapping experience.
The selfie camera features an 8 megapixel sensor which is more than what we hoped for. Overall, top marks to both the cameras from us.
The Nokia 5 is powered by a 1.4 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 processor with an additional 2 gigs of RAM. While it seems a lot on paper, we do expect the smartphone to slightly lag very occasionally. Other than that, the Android Nougat makes good friends with the schematics. Its internal storage stands at 16 gigs which is slowly becoming somewhat of a problem for users nowadays but an external card slot is there to bail you out in-case you ever need it.
A Samsung-ish fingerprint scanner flanked by capacitive buttons resides on the front bottom bezel while an excellent 3000 mAh non-removable battery and 4 different color schemes is everything you need to know about the Nokia 5.
