Product Description

Nokia’s back and back with a bang, under the parent company of HMD Global. Its much awaited partnership with Android has finally kicked-off and the Nokia 6 is the first in line to come out of this conveyor belt. With an expected price somewhere around 30,000 rupees and launching date close to 25th February, this is Nokia’s welcome-back device.

Built by Nokia, like Nokia

The Nokia 6 was a highly anticipated smartphone for the reason that it was to be Nokia’s first release after making its comeback in the smartphone market. Nobody could predict what was to come so there was some interesting guesswork going on ever since the company embarked on its Nokia 6 journey.

However, we’re pleased to see the smartphone featuring some nice looks with a metal back while a metallic frame separates the front/back panels. A Samsung-ish front-mounted fingerprint scanner sits on the bottom bezel being flanked by two capacitive buttons. Its dimensions aren’t as pleasing as we expected it to be; Nokia rather stuck to its philosophy of sturdy builds with the smartphone featuring an 8.4mm width while weighing in at 169g which we’ll pardon.

An HD display that goes well with its size

The smartphone features a 5.5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 403ppi pixel density and 2.5D curves. Translating into a 1080p HD resolution and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the display size and quality will present you with excellently crisp graphics that’ll be hard to take your eyes off.

The king of cameras is back

Before the Samsungs and Apples started rolling out, one can easily remember Nokia being the master of camera phones with Carl Zeiss optics and LED flashes on the N73, N95 etc. The Nokia 6 suggests that the company is heading in the right direction as the smartphone features two wonderful and adequately sized camera sensors.

Statistically, the primary camera features a 16 megapixel sensor with a dual-LED flash, phase detection autofocus, 1.0 µm pixel size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. The secondary sensor features 8 megapixels worth of power meaning that photography has been well taken care off on both sides of the smartphone.

Performance may hit a roadblock sometimes

Well that’s something you probably wouldn’t have expected to hear. Though the Nokia 6 features 4 gigs of RAM, its 1.4 GHz Octa-Core processor and older 430 Snapdragon chipset aren’t that smooth. They’re said to do well when it comes to performing everyday tasks but when it comes to 24/7 totally lag-free performance , the smartphone falls a tad short on its built-in Android Nougat.

The device features loads of internal storage at 64 gigs with an external memory card slot, microUSB v2.0, fast charging and a 3000 mAh battery rounding-off Nokia’s comeback king.

Nokia 6 pros:
  • An adequately sized 1080p curved display
  • Brawny build quality
  • Dolby Atmos sound enhanced speakers
  • 64 gigs of internal storage is jaw-dropping
  • If the expected price turns out to be true, the smartphone is indeed value for money
Nokia 6 cons:
  • Slightly thick at 8.4mm
  • The Snapdragon 430 is outdated and gets outperformed easily
