Nokia’s resurgence is epitomized by some heavyweight releases throughout the latter part of 2017. Ever since the smartphone manufacturer teamed-up with Android, we’re getting to see all kinds of smartphones from the company covering multiple price brackets. If you were yet to be appeased by a flagship grade Nokia phone, behold the mighty Nokia 8 sirocco who’s ready to bow into the smartphone world with a launching price-tag of Rs. 90,000.
The Nokia 8 sirocco is all glass with a stainless steel frame residing between the front and back panels. Those of you who’ve interacted with the OnePlus X would find the sirocco a known quantity. The smartphone’s as premium as it can get as the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 topping on both the front and back panels promise gloss as well as protection.
Dimensions wise, the smartphone stands at a 7.5mm width which is definitely a positive especially considering that it also offers IP67 certified dust and waterproofing.
Being a 2018 release, one would expect the sirocco to follow into the footsteps of the iPhone X or the Galaxy S8 by going close to or completely bezel-less. That’s not quite the case with the Nokia 8 sirocco but we’re not complaining one bit as the smartphone shelters a large 5.5 inches P-OLED touchscreen with a gigantic amount of pixel density at 534.
If you haven’t guessed by now, the smartphone allows a wonderful 1440p HD resolution that distinctly stands-out from the rest by producing some superb graphics atop the large display. Full marks to the sirocco in the display department from us!
The sirocco having dual primary camera sensors aws something which everyone would’ve guessed by now; the smartphone features a powerful 12 + 12 MP dual-primary sensor with an improved version of phase detection autofocus known as dual pixel phase detection autofocus. Its other top-drawer camera features include 2x optical zoom, the crystal clear Carl Zeiss optics and a dual-tone LED flash. Combining these can only lead to devastating photo and videography.
The selfie sensor resides on the more customary side of things with the sirocco hosting a rather small 5 MP sensor. A tad disappointed? We won’t blame you.
The Nokia 8 sirocco is home to powerful hardware that includes an octa-core hybrid processor with enormous amount of RAM at 6 gigs. Just like the dual-primary sensor, a combination of the processor and RAM will only yield devastating performance results atop the built-in Android Nougat. A top-notch user experience awaits you.
Other state of the art features brought to you by the Nokia 8 sirocco include a responsive back-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB type-C reversible connector, Quick Charge 4.0, Qi Wireless charging and a beefy 3260 mAh non-removable battery. These features are definitely a commodity every flagship smartphone should have nowadays and the sirocco fortunately doesn’t disappoints.
On a side note, the Qi Wireless charging feature is area dependent meaning that it won’t be available in all parts of the world but that’s okay.
