With the lower midrange market being completely saturated with Chinese phones, each bringing their own specialties to the table, OPPO is looking to capitalize on it as well. It intends to do so with the introduction of the OPPO A3s, the toned down version of the OPPO A3. With a price of roughly Rs. 25,000, the OPPO A3s lands itself directly in a forest of capable phones.
The OPPO A3s is a big phone, standing at 156.5mm tall. The front of the OPPO A3s is a glass whereas the rest of the phone is a high quality plastic unibody, which is something even the low price point of this phone does not justify as there are plenty of metal unibody phones out there with cheap prices. Right in the middle at the top of the display is a notch where all the sensors and front facing camera are present alongside the earpiece.
The back is mostly clean with a horizontal dual camera in the upper left corner and an accompanying LED flash. In the middle of the phone is the OPPO logo.
The OPPO A3s comes with a 6.2-inch display, which is pretty big. The aspect ratio of the display is a bit taller than normal, 19:9 to be exact. It spreads across the entire front of the phone making it attractive to look at. What isn’t attractive of the display is its resolution, which is HD+, instead of FHD+. This equates to a measly pixel density of 271ppi, which is far less than most of the competition. The display itself is an IPS LCD, so you should expect good color representation and nice viewing angles. Of course, you won’t get the punchy colors of AMOLED displays.
The cameras on the OPPO A3s are an 8MP front facing camera whereas the back dual camera are 13MP and 2MP. The main camera is obviously for selfies and it has an aperture of f/2.2. It can record videos up to 1080p at 30 frames per second as well.
The main setup in the back is obviously more capable. The 13MP main sensor has an aperture of f/2.2 and auto focus, no phase detection here folks. The 2MP camera is for depth sensing so you can get those perfect portrait shots for your facebook and Instagram posts. It has an aperture of f/2.4 however. The LED flash is there too for your night time photography.
The OPPO A3s comes with pretty bad hardware for the price. Instead of a 4GB RAM/64GB storage we have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The processor is a snapdragon 450 SoC which is a low end octa core chipset. Most of the other phones have a snapdragon 600 series chipset. The battery is the only noteworthy feature of the OPPO A3s, with its capacity of 4230mAh. That should be more than enough to last you for a day and a half especially with its other low specs. The OPPO A3s ships with Android 8.1 Oreo.
