Highlights

QMobile has been doing a splendid job from quite some time now. One can still remember the days of the Noir A7 and A10 when the company started to offer big specs in cheap bucks albeit with a whole-lot compromise on quality. The company seems to have taken a notice of this stamp however and we’re seeing a different QMobile than what it was at the time of its inception due to a lot of improvements in their devices. The Noir J5 is another such example.

Build quality and display

The QMobile Noir J5 targets the cheap to budget smartphones category with some excellent specs on its top. Its build’s crowning feature is its 3D-effect creating plastic back that upon looking at from different angels produces ripple effects. It looks quite alike the Honor 4C and some other Lenovo devices from the front though.

Talking about its front, it features a 5.0 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720p resolution. One can definitely call getting 720p resolution in just over an expected launch price of 13,500 rupees “nifty”.

Cameras

As in every other category, QMobile has vastly brought improvements to satisfy the ever demanding Pakistani public. The Noir J5 features an 8 megapixel primary sensor with an LED flash while the selfie sensor fortunately weighs in at 5 megapixels which is more than what we expected; many smartphones within these price brackets normally go with 2 megapixel ones so the J5 supporting a larger sensor is definitely good news.

Hardware and software

When it comes to the hardware, it’s definitely one of the most powerful in just over 13K. The device features a 1.3 GHz Quad-Core processor with 2GB of RAM. This is ample power to run the built-in Android Marshmallow albeit occasional lag might just creep in.

16 gigs of internal storage is a guarantee but you can further buff it up via the external memory card slot. Dual-SIM capability is an added bonus while we’re not too sure about the removable 2300 mAh lithium ion battery’s prowess. That being said, considering its price, the J5 is definitely an option worth giving a serious thought to.
