Samsung markets its smartphones in a wide variety of series. There is the S series which is tasked with being the flagbearer. Then we have the J series which comprises of some nice low to mid-ranged smartphones and then there is the Alpha series which also follows similar lines to the J series. The Galaxy Alpha G850 is one of its finest prodigies and there are several good reasons to become friends with it.
Before doodling into its features, we’ll first like to point out that the Galaxy Alpha and the Galaxy Alpha G850 (also known as Galaxy Alpha S801 in some parts of the world) are two different smartphones albeit with very little to choose between them (both of them were released simultaneously in September 2014). We’ve also seen Samsung do this before with the Galaxy S4 and while discussing its features, we’ll also enlighten you on its differences from the simple Galaxy Alpha.
Both the Galaxy Alpha’s have 99% specs in common with the only major difference in the two being their different chipsets and processors. The Galaxy alpha G850 comes in with a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset and a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 processor whereas the Galaxy Alpha houses an Exynos 5430 Octa chipset and a Quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 processor. Both have the same amount of RAM at 2GB and as is evident clearly from the aforementioned specifications, the G850 is a definite improvement on its counterpart.
Apart from these, the 12 megapixels primary sensor, 2 megapixels for the secondary and the 4.7 inches gorgeous display with 312ppi pixel density are the same for both the phones. We really like its build quality and with a thinner than life width at 6.7mm, it’s one of the slimmest smartphones lingering around.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha G850 is definitely one of Samsung’s shining lights. Its build quality, dimensions and a superb muscular internal architecture makes it one of the juiciest choices around. If being slim is one of your primary demands, close your eyes and simply order the genie to get you the Galaxy Alpha G850.
