Samsung’s C series undoubtedly features some of the company’s best devices. The beautifully crafted Galaxy C5 set its wheels in motion which were later complimented by the C7 and C5 Pro. There was never any doubt that one of these boys would receive a 2017 model and here we have it; the Galaxy C7 2017.
At first sighting, the Galaxy C7 2017 resembles a lot to Nokia’s famed flagship, the Nokia 8. Reason being that both smartphones feature metallic exteriors and a capsule-shaped platform at its back panel for the dual-primary sensor (more about that later) and LED flash to sit on. Its all metal exterior features a 7.9mm width while a 178g weight was somewhat expected of this large smartphone.
Reverting back to Samsung’s preferred display technology, the smartphone features a 5.5 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 401ppi pixel density. Allowing a 1080p HD resolution, a flawless and detailed graphical experience awaits your deserving eyes with both the display size and resolution being a fine combo.
Did we mentioned something about the Galaxy C7 2017 featuring a dual-primary sensor? Correctly so; the smartphone features a 13 + 5 megapixel dual-primary sensor with an LED flash. The sensor misses out on killer features such as phase detection autofocus or OIS but we do have geo-tagging, face detection, HDR, panorama and touch focus here. Pretty customary, right? Despite that, the dual camera sensor technology has its own muscle which shouldn’t be underestimated or toyed with.
The selfie sensor stands toe to toe with its primary counterpart by featuring a jaw-dropping 16 megapixel sensor of its own. That’s even bigger than many primary sensors out there!
The C7 2017 carries on the mantle of its predecessors by featuring some excellent hardware; the smartphone is powered by an octa-core processor with 4GB RAM. Coming out of the box with Android Nougat, the device’s OS couldn’t have asked for anything more than this. The excellent amount of RAM ensures no lag while the 64GB of internal storage is exactly what should be the base mark in the modern world. An external memory card-slot is a customary Samsung feature that probably won’t need to be called upon unless you’re a super user.
USB type-C ensures seamless and quick transfer of data between the C7 2017 and other computing devices while a front mounted fingerprint scanner was an absolute must. Fast charging technology further elevates the smartphone’s prowess while a 2850 mAh battery seems a-tad underpowered to keep a super user going for a full day. However, it’s more than enough for your average daily needs. Gold and black colour schemes give you a rather limited stock of exteriors to choose from.
• The display is adequate, both qualitatively and quantitatively
• The smartphone’s cameras department is one of its strongest points as we’ve already dissected the primary and selfie sensor’s prowess above
• Its Hardware houses power aplenty that is more than enough to keep lag at bay
• Fingerprint scanner and Fast Charge technology are always a treat to have
• Should’ve had more colour schemes
