It’s easy to forget that Samsung does cater to the lowest segment of the smartphone world, since their flagships get all the limelight. Joining the entry level bracket is the Galaxy J2 2018; a bare essential phone with a price tag of Rs. 14,500 to justify it.
No metal here, all plastic
Unlike the many Chinese phones that offer metal built designs, the Galaxy J2 2018 sports an all plastic body. On the front is now a seemingly ancient 16:9 qHD 5-inch display. The screen type is a Super AMOLED but the resolution equates to a measly 220ppi pixel density. A 720p phone would have been acceptable, this is 2018 after all. Besides that, there is an 8MP back camera with an LED flash and video recording capabilities up to 1080p. The front camera is a 5MP one. No fingerprint scanner to be found on this budget phone.
Hardware
The hardware in the Galaxy J2 2018 is not bad for its price. We have 1.5GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 425 as its processor. The internal storage has been upgraded from 8GB to 16GB and there is a 2600mAh battery, which is removable of course. The J2 2018 comes with Android 7.1 Nougat pre-installed.
Despite that we mentioned the hardware not being bad for its price, we do warn you that 1.5GB of RAM is never a good option for expecting optimal performance atop any Android.
