The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 is the latest in this year’s J series lineup – one of Samsung’s most successful phone lines due to their affordable nature. Targeted at people who don’t want to shell out a large sum of money for a decent phone, the Galaxy J7 Prime 2 is priced at Rs. 28,000.
The Galaxy J7 Prime 2 leaves the older plastic design of previous J series phones and embraces the more premium feeling metal unibody design that we’ve kinda grown accustomed to seeing by now. The bezels are not big enough to make the phone look ugly but they’re definitely not bezel-less either which is something one would expect come 2018.
On the back, only the main camera resides with the fingerprint scanner being embedded under the home button. The phone is really smooth and comfortable to hold and doesn’t slip out of your hands despite the curved edges. Dimensions wise, the smartphone features a nice 8mm width ad 170g weight.
The smartphone’s display sees similar specifications to the older J7 Prime featuring a 5.5 inches PLS TFT one. The device’s pixel density sits at a comfortable 401ppi pixel density that promises a stunning 1080p HD resolution atop the front display. Chill, the PLS TFT has got it.
The cameras atop the Galaxy J7 Prime 2 are something you’ve seen before, in the sense that the front camera features a 13MP sensor, whereas the back camera houses a similarly sized 13MP sensor.
Both cameras have the capacity to record 1080p quality videos despite their seemingly modest nature. An LED flash accompanies you in low light situations meaning you don’t need to fear the dark anymore, unlike Iron Maiden.
The hardware in the Galaxy J7 Prime 2 is somewhat impressive but not that much, but it’s not something we can complain about since this has always been the case with Samsung’s J series. Under the hood we have an octa-core processor. Coupled with 3GB of RAM and improved 32GB of internal storage, you have the standard recipe for a midrange device come 2018.
Even though the screen and processor have been upgraded, the GPU is still the one that was used in last year’s J7, meaning it could have a little trouble handling all those extra pixels. The battery in the J7 Prime 2 is adequate, boasting a capacity of 3300 mAh. That’s more than enough to pull you through a days of usage, depending on usage frequency that is.
If you were waiting for a rear or front-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB type-C or fast charging capability, we’re sorry to disappoint you as you’ll only be getting the fingerprint scanner out of all these.
