With a wide range of smartphone lineups under Samsung’s Galaxy moniker, it’s easy to forget some of the phones that are released. One such phone is the Galaxy On7 Pro. While the “Pro” and “7” might make the phone sound like a high end one, it is nothing but the opposite. Aimed at those on a budget, the Galaxy On7 Pro is priced at Rs. 23,000. It has a number of features which make it a valuable buy, which we’re about to get into.
Although the Galaxy On7 Pro is a budget device, the design of the phone looks like anything but that. It’s definitely a good looking handset, especially since it’s only 8mm thin. The phone has a metal body and is similar in looks to the Galaxy A5 2015, albeit not as slim. The front of the phone has a physical home button like most of Samsung’s handsets and 2 capacitive keys, one for navigation and the other to access recent apps. The top of the phone is where the earpiece, selfie camera and sensors are found.
The back of the phone is clean except for the main camera and LED flash. The clean back gives off a very premium feel when holding it thanks to the metal body. It is also very comfortable to hold thanks to the not-so-thin-yet-thin dimensions it has.
The Galaxy On7 Pro sports a big 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1280*720. This makes the pixel density an average 267ppi. We would have liked a higher resolution but then it would be hard having that at this price. The screen is a TFT LCD one, which is surprising because Samsung equips almost all of its phones with AMOLED displays.
The Galaxy On7 Pro has a decent pair of cameras when you consider the price at which it is available. The front camera is a 5MP camera with an aperture of f/2.2 This is pretty decent and results in photos which are worthy of uploading to your social media accounts. Night time and indoor photography suffer heavily though.
The main camera is a 13MP one and has an LED flash as well. The sensor has an aperture of f/2.1 for wider range photos and can record up to 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps).
The Galaxy On7 Pro comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, the standard 2016 midrange setup. However, there is the option to upgrade that storage capacity with a microSD card. The max limit you can go up to is 256GB. Note that the memory card takes up the second sim slot, since it’s a hybrid slot. The processor inside the Galaxy On7 Pro is a Snapdragon 410 which is a quad-core 1.3GHz setup. The battery in the On7 Pro is a 3000mAh cell, which is more than generous at this price. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed.
