Since the advent of the Galaxy S4 active, we’re accustomed to seeing an active model with the release of every flagship device. The latest in this line of active smartphones is the Galaxy S7 Active. Not at all aesthetically pleasing, that’s not what the Active is made for anyway. Though the smartphone is loaded with power, as an average user it won’t probably be your cup of tea.
The Galaxy S7 Active is made for rugged and temperature sensitive environments. Therefore, the material used in making the Galaxy S7 Active represents strength rather than aesthetics.
The back features a polycarbonate build enclosed by a rubber-esque material frame that has somewhat of a matt finish. The back houses the primary camera, heart rate sensor and the LED flash. The front features the display and three buttons on the bottom bezel. While we’re accustomed to see a press-able home button whereas the other two buttons are capacitive, this isn’t the case in the S7 Active. Though, they’re all very responsive. It also has a military standard approved salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation and thermal shock resistant body that is made to tackle the most adverse conditions out there.
The display in numbers is a 5.1 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a wholesome 576ppi pixel density. The result is a 1440p HD resolution that ensures excellent display performance.
The Galaxy S7 Active features the same cameras the regular S7 shelters. The primary camera has a 12 dual-pixel sensor with phase detection and optical image stabilization whereas the front camera features a good-quality 5 megapixel camera.
The primary camera has produced some of the very best low-light snapping which keeps up Samsung’s reputation as one of the very best smartphone camera manufacturers in the business.
Finally, the S7 Active features a fingerprint sensor embedded inside the home button. The active series has always ditched the fingerprint reader due to some reason but it’s finally here. It is powered by a Dual-core 2.15 GHz Kryo & dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo processor with 4GB of RAM that is more than enough to run the built-in Android v6.0 Marshmallow. No 64GB internal memory variant for the S7 Active though as it only comes in a 32GB one.
