Product Description

Samsung has taken its time to come-up with something that would not only heal the wounds inflicted by the Note 7 fiasco but also regain the company’s stranglehold in the smartphone market. The Galaxy S8 Plus, its mainstay flagship, is tasked with those operations which it will begin shortly after hitting the market shelves on March 28 2017 with an expected launch price in excess of 90,000 rupees.

The design receives a complete makeover

We finally get to say this. It was hard to imagine at first how’d Samsung bring something new to the table but here it is; the home and capacitive buttons are now gone with extremely thin bezels flanking the Galaxy S8 Plus’s large display with 3D-touch capability much like the iPhone 7’s force-touch technology. Dual-glass panels at the front and back with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection is something you’ve previously heard of while we’re somewhat happy with its 7.9mm width which is probably because of the smartphone featuring a large battery as well as IP68 certified dust and waterproofing.

Qualitatively and quantitatively, one of the best displays out there in the market

If there’s one line that best describes the S8 Plus’s display, it’s the one above. This is wholly due to the fact that the display comprises of a large 6.2 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 474ppi pixel density. Allowing a staggering 1440p HD resolution, the display size and crisp resolution will undoubtedly put together an ultimate user experience for you.

You’ve seen these cameras before

We’re saying this because the S8 Plus features a carbon copy of the Galaxy S7 Edge’s primary camera. Featuring a 12 dual-pixel primary sensor with phase-detection autofocus, OIS and an LED flash, the S8 Plus’s camera is fine-tuned to capture excellent photos and record sharp videos. Its low-light prowess is also well documented which is partly down to the camera sensor being able to absorb more light because of its large aperture sized lens.

The selfie camera has been bumped up to 8 megapixels which is something people expected with the Galaxy S7 last year. There’s no reason to see the selfie sensor as an underperformer as we’re all well aware of Samsung’s camera producing prowess.

Continuing on with its wide array of impressive features is…

The octa-core processor with 4 gigs of RAM. While rumors suggested that the Galaxy S8 Plus would come in with 6 gigs of RAM but that’s not to be the case. Instead, you’ll have to make do with 4 gigs of RAM which is more than enough to give you the much-wanted no-lag user experience. Its base internal storage stands at 64 gigs with a 128GB variant also available.

Miss the Note 7? While Samsung hasn’t brought it back yet, we do get its iris scanner in the Galaxy S8 Plus. Two levels of security are a guarantee with a fingerprint scanner also available while a juicy 3500 mAh battery, fast-charging, market dependent wireless charging and USB type-C rounding-off Samsung’s big money release.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus pros:
  • A large 6.2 inches 1440p resolution display is just what the doctor ordered
  • Seamless experience atop the built-in Android Nougat.
  • The iris scanner is back!
  • Stereo speakers
  • Larger display in a comparatively smaller size due to the near bezel-less design
  • 3D-Touch for the first time in an Android smartphone
Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus cons:
  • We simply couldn’t find one!
