Xiaomi has worked its way to become a recognized competitor in the android niche, especially with its huge customer base in China. Constantly releasing quality smartphones at affordable prices, Xiaomi now brings us the Mi 5X. The Mi 5X is an upper midrange handset that will set you back roughly Rs. 27,000.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X is very similar to another Xiaomi phone, the Mi Max 2. It’s got a similar design pattern with its aluminum body. But metal phones are a dime a dozen nowadays, so what makes the Mi 5X so different are the little details that Xiaomi focused on. Now, there are no plastic stripes on the back and the phone is truly “all-metal”. The phone is not that heavy either at 165g. On the front is a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display and 3 capacitive android buttons below it. Above the display is the front facing camera along with the sensors.
On the back of the phone is the main dual camera setup with an LED flash to the left of the sensor. A rather unique placement. Below the camera towards the middle is where the responsive fingerprint scanner lies, a comfortable position to place one.
The Mi 5X has a 5.5-inch display as mentioned earlier. This is an entire inch smaller than the gargantuan 6.44-inch screen of the Mi Max 2. The resolution on the Mi 5X is 1920*1080 meaning you’ll get a pixel density of 403ppi. The display of the Mi 5X is not an 18:9 one, it’s got the standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Being an IPS LCD display, the Mi 5X has colder color representations than AMOLED screens but that just means it’s more realistic.
Arguably the best feature on the Mi 5X is its cameras. The main setup comprises of 2 12MP cameras. The first one has an aperture of f/2.2, a 26mm diameter and 1.25µm pixel size, which means it’ll be able to let in a lot of light for better night time photography and detail capture. The second 12MP camera has an aperture of f/2.6, is 60mm in diameter and individual pixel size is slightly shy of the first sensor at 1.0µm.
In addition to these amazing specs are features such as phase detection autofocus, 2X optical zoom and a dual tone LED flash. Video recording tops out at 4k @30fps and can record in 720p @120fps! Now all this hocus pocus means you’ll be able to capture flagship grade photos with the Mi 5X at just a fraction of the price. If that’s not a bargain, we don’t know what is.
The front camera is just as good being a 5MP snapper with video recording capabilities maxing out at 1080p.
Under the hood of the Mi 5X are 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage for all your apps and multitasking needs. A Snapdragon 625 processor is the source of all the horsepower. The battery inside is a 3080mAh one so you should be able to get one day of usage with ease.
