As time goes by, smartphone manufacturers around the world are looking for better and better ways to keep the public enticed. Xiaomi’s one such company that has never failed to cook something new and the Mi 8 Explorer is one of its truly great releases. Why? Let’s just find out shall we?

Something new is up in the design department

If you haven’t yet guessed by now, the Mi 8 Explorer is an amazing derivative of the Mi 8. What makes the former more pleasing to the eye is the fact that its back is transparent and is made of premium glass. That’s a new feature that Xiaomi’s introduced to the public with the upcoming of the Mi 8 Explorer and we do feel that it makes the smartphone look a little more appealing. You can easily see all the circuitry, the battery and everything else inside the smartphone.

Dimensions wise, a 7.6mm width is really good and the 177g weight is attributed to its all-round usage of excellent build materials.

The nearly bezel-less display

Many people have touted the Mi 8 Explorer to be the true iPhone X killer primarily because of its supreme looks and jaw-dropping hardware. The display leaves nothing to worry about as it’s a 6.21 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 402ppi pixel density. That translates to a detail-savvy 1080p HD resolution that will ensure that you get to enjoy each and every bit of detail to its absolute fullest atop the display.

The use of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 further adds gloss to an already promising and beautiful display; the Mi 8 Explorer definitely isn’t leaving anything to the imagination.

Cometh the cameras!

The cameras do full justice to the Mi 8 Explorer’s all-round pedigree. What we’re seeing here is a huge 12 + 12 MP dual primary sensor with an LED flash, 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and phase detection autofocus for much better and quality imaging plus video-graphy. OIS and PDAF are camera-savvy features that elevate a simple snap to greater heights and ensure that it catches each and every detail with precision.

The selfie sensor is a badass on its own as it features a 20 MP stunner. Overall, we’re very pleased with the cameras department of the smartphone as it simply guarantees snapping of the highest order.

Underneath the transparent hood of the Mi 8 Explorer

The rampage of the Mi 8 Explorer continues to its hardware department as we’re seeing a hybrid octa-core processor with 8GB of RAM which will make even laptops proud. The built-in Android Oreo will absolutely see no problems at all to run in a butter-smooth manner while 128 gigs of internal storage will ensure that you simply need not to worry about the smartphone every running out of space.

One of the crowning and defining features of the Mi 8 Explorer is the smartphone featuring an under screen fingerprint scanner. That’s something which should be considered as Xiaomi’s biggest accomplishment to date and we’re absolutely mesmerized to see this feature, which had been in the making for a long time, finally making its way into smartphones.

Other modern-day features of the smartphone include USB type-C, a non-removable 3000 mAh battery, Quick Charge 4.0, Face ID and black colour scheme.
