Announced right before the more expensive Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5, comes the Redmi 5A. An extremely budget oriented phone by Xiaomi, the Redmi 5A is a value phone all around. Priced at Rs. 9500, this phone is best suited for those who don’t need all those hi-fi specs.
Design and Build Quality
Not expected in this price range, the Redmi 5A sports a metal unibody design making it far more premium than its direct competitors, and even giving some relatively more expensive phones a run for their money. On the front is a 5-inch 720p IPS LCD screen equating to a 293ppi pixel density. Above the screen is a 5MP front camera for all your selfies. Unfortunately, there is no fingerprint scanner on the Redmi 5A either, just like the Redmi 4A.
On the back of the phone is a 13MP f/2.2 aperture camera with 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second; more than you ask for at this price.
Hardware
Packing minimal specs, the Redmi 5A is powered by a Snapdragon 425 processor and 2GB of RAM. Internal memory maxes out at 16GB but there is a microSD card slot with support for upto 256GB cards. The Redmi 5A comes with Android 7.1 Nougat pre-loaded. Pretty good for 9500 eh?
