Haier is one of the rare manufacturers, if not the only, who have a manufacturing plant for their devices right here in Lahore. Their phones have slowly started coming onto the scene with recent dominance of affordable low-end phones in the Pakistani market. People have been looking to get their hands on a 3G enabled device ever since the technology has been implemented and this has caught all such companies’ attention. The Pursuit G30 is among one of the most affordable smartphones in the market.
From a design perspective, the phone looks a lot like a regular rectangular phone that is common among a lot of Chinese manufacturers and some Pakistani as well. It boasts a 4.5” screen with a (480x854 pixels) IPS Capacitive display. The screen seems to be as good as any of this price range. It has Dual SIM support, something that is coveted by most of the people in our local market. It also provides a microSD expansion slot which can take the storage up to 32 GB of external space.
Under the hood, is a MediaTek chipset that has a 1.3GHz dual-core processor on board, specifically the MT6572. It also has 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB ROM. For a phone in the very low-range in terms of pricing, these are the kind of specifications that are expected. The phone has OpenGL ES 2.0 which helps in some applications that require such GPU intensive tasks. It comes with Android KitKat right off the bat and the interface isn’t the best but is bearable. It still is commendable to have a phone that is affordable and is running the latest Android OS (of the time).
The phone has two cameras which is impressive since many other companies would have hesitated in putting a front camera on such a low-end device. On the rear end is a 5 megapixels camera that is capable of taking respectable pictures. Not only that, but one can also use Touch Focus to focus on an item manually. It can go up to 4x zoom and is capable of recording videos as well. The front camera is a 2 megapixels camera for video calling or selfie purposes. The battery is only 1600 mAh but seems appropriate for the specifications of the device and its price tag.
