With the Huawei P8, the company had figured out the right recipe to cook the perfect flagship that would stand tall against its competitors. The phone is a major upgrade to the previous Ascend P7, as well as making Huawei some good space in the mainstream row.
In terms of its build quality, the phone ditched the all-plastic ideology with a metal unibody, giving the device a much more premium feel. Though it’s a bit bigger than the previous one, it’s also thinner which makes it more comfortable in the hand. The Gorilla Glass 3 protected screen has been added 0.2 inches to it and still packs a resolution of 1920 x 1080 full HD display with a pixel density of 424 ppi.
Performance wise, the company has upgraded the phone’s chipset from a Kirin 910T to a Kirin 935 as well as adding four more cores of processing power to it. It also has been given an extra gigabyte of RAM as well as introducing a newer version with 128 GB of internal memory along with the already available 16 GB one. It also supports expandable storage of up to 128 GB so memory is not going to be an issue.
Looking at the camera, on the surface it looks like Huawei has used the same sensors on the front and the back, but when one actually gets to use it, the difference is pretty vivid. Though the pixel count of the sensor is the same (with 13 megapixels at the back and 8 MP on the front), the company has used new optical image stabilization of up to 1.2 degrees which gives better image quality in low light situations as well as less blurry photos. It also contains (supposedly) the world’s first RGBW image sensor which gives more brightness and enhanced noise reduction. Huawei shared some photo-comparisons of the phone with the iPhone 6 and the P8 was a clear winner.
The battery has been increased from 2500 mAh to 2680 mAh, which is enough to last the phone for a day’s use. The phone can easily be called as the next-generation upgrade to the previous Ascend P7, as well as a premium-featured flagship that has already earned enough praise in the mainstream market.
