The last 6 years or so have seen a large number of Chinese manufacturers invading the smartphone sector like ants. One of the latest in this line of manufacturers is Infinix which aims to make something more than just noise. In order to make a statement, one must think out of the box while also keeping the constraints within check. This is exactly what we feel when we see the Infinix Note 2. A proud phablet with an exceptional design, superb build quality and handsome hardware, the Note 2 is finely coiled like a snake to spring a surprise.
Body and Display
The Infinix Note 2 is, to put it into simple words, huge! The display is probably one of Infinix’s biggest while we’ll give the company a standing ovation as to how well they managed to gel a large screen with a sleek body. Sounds like a mixture of Katrina Kaif and Kim Kardashian to us!
The Note 2’s display features a titanic 5.9 inches IPS capacitive touchscreen with a pixel density of 294ppi. The resolution stands at 720p and we’re not sure as to how crisp graphical representations will be on the Note 2 as the pixel density seems in-adequate. However, the display covers three quarters of the screen and the thin bezels give a very fine finish to the display.
Camera
The phablet features two exciting cameras in the form of a 13 megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture sized lens whereas the secondary sensor supports 5 megapixels. The primary camera is aided by autofocus technology making for a satisfying camera but we would’ve hoped for the secondary camera to have a larger 8 megapixel sensor to compliment the large touchscreen.
Hardware and Software
As always, Hardware gets good grades when it comes to Infinix. The Note 2 is powered by a 1.3 GHz Octa-core processor with 1 or 2GB of RAM depending on the variant. The built-in Android v5.1 Lollipop runs subtly and the internal storage of at least 16GB is comforting. For those who’re used to more, they can head over to the external SD card slot. The fingerprint sensor is absent but we’re told that its battery is one of the best ever to be put in a smartphone.
