Highlights

LG, being one of the Korean mobile phone manufacturing giants, likes to go head to head with Samsung, battling to become the best in Android powered devices. The G4 being LG’s flagship doesn’t miss the mark at all. It is a fine piece of technology that is not only curvy in design but also performs like a flagship. The camera is certainly one of the best and the phone is destined to last for some time in this age of ever-changing technology.

The G4 comes with a 5.5” IPS LCD 2K display just like the one on the LG G3 but the display is much better now with better brightness adaptation and crispness. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, just like its predecessor but the display is rated by the critics as one of the best, if not the best, among all flagships. The phone comes with a Micro-SIM slot that supports LTE, 3G and 2G networks. It also comes with a Dual-SIM option.

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset which is a huge improvement over the Snapdragon 801 in the G3. The newer device has a quad-core Cortex-A53 and a dual-core Cortex-A57 processor, having two more cores than the quad-core G3. Although there are other devices with better specifications or newer chipsets than the G4, LG decided to bet on better optimization and they certainly made the phone to perform really well in all benchmarking tests. The phone comes with 32 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of RAM. The storage can be expanded up to 128 GB via a microSD slot.

The camera is one of the best things about the G4 with the widest of apertures in all Android phones. The phone comes with an f/1.8 aperture that is certainly the widest of all smartphones on the market, and takes some beautiful shots in the lowest of lighting. The addition of laser autofocus makes focusing extremely fast and the 16 megapixels sensor accompanied by optical image stabilization doesn’t disappoint one bit. The front camera is also an 8 megapixels sensor that is capable of taking much brighter photos as it can capture a lot of light. In terms of video, it records 4K video at 30fps.

One of the plus points of LG’s flagships over the other devices is that the G4 has a removable back which means a spare battery can be used when needed and memory can be expanded via a microSD slot instead of being stuck at the fixed internal memory.
