In 2014, Apple finally entered the phablet race through its first ever iPhone 6 Plus. Samsung and Sony had already been involved in the race to make the best phablets on the planet and Apple’s involvement only shows how much the world has started to love these devices. While Samsung has the excellently crafted Note series going on and making waves around the world, Sony has also developed some of these bad boys to ensure that it is not all plain sailing for Samsung’s phablets.
Phablets are different to smartphones in a way that they have much bigger touchscreens that provide bigger space to work with and most of them come with the intuitive stylus pens that make writing, drawing, annotating, creating etc. much much more fun and easy. Sony unfortunately has yet to offer a phablet with a stylus but has been successful in making phablets a part of its arsenal.
The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra is a part of its phablet familia. The C series is accustomed to large screen sizes and this one didn’t disappoint either. With a 6.0 inches 367 ppi pixel density IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen protected by scratch resistant glass, it surely means business and no beating around the bush.
The processor is very similar to the Xperia C4 a.k.a Octa-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 but its RAM has been beefed up to 2 gigs to ensure an all round phablet experience. Internal storage initially stands at 16GB but you can expand it to the enormity of a whopping 200GB through the dedicated card slot.
The camera shelters a 13 megapixel and f/2.0 aperture sensor which is capable of taking quality photos. The selfie camera comes in with an LED flash and 5 megapixels which is going to prove to be a deadly combination. Let’s see how well they combine to do on the enormous 6.0 inches touchscreen!
If you’re a crazy Sony fan and you’re looking for a phablet, going for the Xperia C5 Ultra would be like a dream come true to you. Samsung’s Note series is better though and it will be a wise idea to wait and save a bit to get your hands on the better device.
