As the Galaxy Note7 will soon be hitting market shelves all across the globe, one can possibly wonder why the South Korean giants didn’t come up with the logical Galaxy Note 6 after releasing the Note 5 last year. We here at PriceOye have the answer you’ve been looking for.
The first ever Galaxy Note came to existence in October 2011 and proved to be an instant hit as it brought something different to the public. Features that included one of the largest screens ever seen on any smartphone device (5.3 inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen) and two powerful camera sensors were its main reasons for success. People were simply blown away by the prospect of seeing a 5.3 inch display on a smartphone and that ultimately paved the way for Samsung to keep up with the Note series.
However, the first ever Galaxy S series smartphone came a year earlier than its bigger counterpart. Ever since then, the world witnesses two flagship releases every year from Samsung in the form of the latest Galaxy Note and the newest Galaxy S.
Generally, the Galaxy Note smartphones are released anywhere between the months of August and October. The Galaxy S smartphones get their first glimpse of the world in and around April-June.

Ever since the first Galaxy Note came to town, there always remains a confusion regarding its model numbers with the Galaxy S series. Until this August, the Galaxy S series always used to remain a step ahead (when it comes to model numbering) from the Galaxy Note as it was announced a year earlier. When the first Note was announced, the world had already witnessed the unveiling of the Galaxy “S2” and this trend continued on to 2016 when we now have the Samsung Galaxy S7 in our palms.
Logically, everyone expected that the Galaxy Note6 would be coming in next. As the rumor mill started spinning some 5 months or so ago, rumors of a Galaxy Note7 emerged and we finally have it amongst us. Samsung has finally brought the model numbering of the Note and S series into sync. This is to remove confusion from users.
So, to sum it up: Samsung skipped the Galaxy Note 6 and went straight to Galaxy Note 7.

This ensures no further confusion as from now on, both the Note and Galaxy S series smartphones will receive equivalent model numbers. I consider this as a “nifty” step and hope that the upcoming Note and Galaxy S smartphones keep amazing us like they’ve always done before.
