iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus Rumored Price, Specs & Features

The beginning of Q3 in the smartphone world is marked by the most anticipated release of the year in the form of Apple’s iPhone. In this post, we’ll discuss rumored specifications, features, and price of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

In what has become somewhat of a regular trait since the iPhone 4S came to town, September approaching means that the rumor mill is already in full-swing with tons of leaks and expected features surfacing about the new iPhone – the iPhone 7. Apple goes an extra mile in ensuring its smooth mass production which in-turn is the reason why thousands of vendors come up with comprehensive leaks about Apple’s premier device way before its announcement.

We here at PriceOye have closely followed all that the rumor mill has thrown at us and we’ve filtered out what you need to know about both the iPhone 7 and the larger iPhone 7 Plus.

An evolutionary upgrade

First and foremost, this year’s iPhone release is being touted as nothing revolutionary and to say it bluntly, boring. Nothing new in the form of exclusive new-born features have been quoted as yet. The iPhone will come under 2 models, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus; this time with one or two big differences between them. Another name, the iPhone 7 Pro, is also widely quoted but reliable sources are not getting into it that much. We’ll first begin with its design.

Both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will feature nearly the same build quality material in the form of the Aluminium 7000 series that put an end to the “bend-gate” in iPhone 6S. They’ll also shelter almost similar dimensions with respect to their predecessors in height and length while the iPhone 7 is rumored to be 1 mm thinner than the 6S.

No headphone jack

The real difference between the two is the highly anticipated absence of the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the much maligned antenna bands. The antenna bands, though will not be completely gone, will curve around the top and bottom of the iPhone so that they won’t look so obvious on the back.

The elimination of the headphone jack is one of the most interesting stories we’ve heard about. Potentially the strongest rumor of the lot, this move has been taken to make the iPhone “less crowded” and to use the charging port as a multipurpose outlet that can connect both the charger and your Earpods. This will also allow the rumored installation of dual stereo speakers at its bottom. When the iPhone 6 came along, the antenna bands were what received mixed responses and with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the torch is set to be passed on to the absent headphone jack.

The iPhone 7 will feature a 4.7 inch display while the 7 Plus will feature a 5.5 inch display – both with 3D touch technology that was introduced with the iPhone 6S. Nothing new here and as much as we’re disappointed to know, they’ll again feature the now relatively low but still crispy 326ppi pixel density. When this retina benchmark was first introduced in the iPhone 4, it indeed was the best smartphone display ever but now the Super AMOLED’s are seriously starting to roll-over Apple’s displays. It still, however, is adequate if not the best. The new iPhones will feature same color schemes but it has been touted that the Space Grey color will now give way for a new deep blue color scheme, shown below.

Evolutionary camera upgrade on 7

Now coming to the cameras. The iPhone 7 will probably feature improved iSight cameras compared to the iPhone 6s with a change in its lens design. Both the lens and the sensor is expected to be bigger than before. The camera will again be protruding more out of the iPhone’s back. The protruding camera is set to be another concern seemingly gone unnoticed by the Cupertino giants.

HUGE camera upgrade on 7 Plus

The biggest thing that separates the iPhone 7 Plus from the iPhone 7 is the introduction of dual-lens technology in the bigger smartphone. I first saw dual-lenses on the HTC M8 and the latest Huawei P9 has followed suit. Apple looks set to continue this in their own ways which could bring us with the first ever dual-lens iPhone camera. Unlike the P9 and M8, the iPhone 7 Plus’s dual-lens camera is housed on a pill-shaped platform that doesn’t really does its looks any favors.

If you’re interested in what the purpose of dual lenses is, grab a seat and buckle up. It is said that one of the lenses handles RGB color schemes while the other one is a depth or black/white measurement sensor. Both of these work as a team to ensure that there’s minimum difference between what you see through your eyes and what the iSight camera produces.

Rumored hardware specifications

Now we’ll ping its hardware. Both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will probably receive greater processing speed than the 6s while the RAM is subject to debate. Rumor has it that the iPhone 7 will come in with the same 2GB RAM while the 7 Plus might receive 3GB. Both of these amounts are very adequate because of the software/hardware optimizations of the iOS so it won’t cause users any harm.

With regards to the battery, the 7 Plus will feature a larger battery which probably will produce significantly better battery life. One of the latest leaks regarding the iPhone schematics was about its logic board. It guaranteed the introduction of Fast Charge technology but experts are viewing this rumor with increased skepticism. The iPhone 7 Plus is also said to have a Smart Connector that allows for wireless charging and lighting fast exchange of data but we’ll recommend not getting your hopes high on this one.

Another one of its strongest rumors is that the new iPhones will feature a pressure sensitive home-button rather than a mechanical one. This allows Apple to further trim down its width and lessen the use of moving parts in the smartphone which leads to an even more reliable home button that is sure to keep going and going. Bye bye Assistive Touch I suppose. Reports also suggest that Apple will finally be ditching the base 16GB internal storage version in favor of the 32GB one. Hurray!

Lastly, this year’s Apple event is also up for debate as to when will the Cupertino boys come out of the Infinity Loop to present the next iPhones. Apple has a knack of introducing new gadgets on Tech-Tuesdays but this time, the event is rumored to be scheduled on Friday, 7th of September. Some sources have also quoted 23rd September as a potential date as well, made popular by an AT&T leak. All in all, time isn’t really that far away.

iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 price in Pakistan

So to sum up, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus won’t probably be the bang you’ve all been expecting. I’ve seen numerous videos of parachute protection and other non-sense related to the new releases which I’ll strongly recommend you to keep your eyes off. Both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will begin selling in prices in access of 1 lac PKR on their release with the 7 Plus probably being 15k PKR more expensive than its sibling but if you can wait for another 5-7 months, the prices will plateau at around 75k to 85k PKR for both the iPhones.

In any case, keep an eye on automatically updated listings to find the lowest prices for both Apple devices online!
