After Apple made headlines with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, it was Google’s time to introduce something of its own. The Nexus were put to bed for good and we got to see the revamped Google Pixels. Now it’s Huawei’s turn to step up on the podium and introduce a flagship of its own; yes we’re talking about the upcoming Huawei Mate 9.
The Mate series targets the phablet class of smartphones and after the somewhat successful Mate 8 last year, time had come for the former to receive an increment. That brings us to Huawei’s most premium phablet to date and we’re anxiously awaiting its arrival in Pakistan as the smartphone is a wholesome package of features.
What is the Huawei Mate 9?
The Mate 9 is, to put into the simplest of words, a phablet. The smartphone is a supreme mixture of specs and build quality which is quite the least we expected of Huawei due to their undeniable prowess when it comes to producing smartphones of the highest order.
The Mate9 features a sumptuously built body complimented by curved edges and an excellent metal finish, something we’ve grown accustomed to see in Huawei’s upper-range smartphones. The metal simply looks and feels great to touch while its slender 7.9mm waist is striking considering how huge the smartphone is.
Did someone say huge? That’s because 77.5% of its front panel is covered by a gigantic 5.9 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 373ppi pixel density. This equates to a 1080p HD resolution which automatically means that graphical experience on the Mate9 will be a joy to behold. We’ve seen many large screen smartphones coming in with lower resolutions that effectively stretch their pixels very badly. Thankfully the Mate9 is not one of those.
Moving onto the smartphone’s cameras. We’ve previously talked about how widespread dual-lens cameras are becoming nowadays and the Mate9 is one of their latest recipients. The phablet features a large 20 megapixels plus 12 megapixels primary sensor with a dual-tone LED flash. This baby is every bit as good as the the P9 Plus‘s dual primary snapper and other hunky features such as OIS, phase detection AND laser autofocus, LEICA optics and 2x zoom further alleviates this primary sensor’s prowess.
The primary camera is so good that we almost forgot about the Mate 9’s selfie snapper; it features a large 8 megapixel sensor that looks finely poised to perform up to the mark. An excellent end to the cameras category we suppose?
Time to focus our attention towards the hardware; this big boy features an Octa-Core processor with an additional 4GB of RAM.When working in tandem, these two will be devastating for any operating system. Apart from housing sheer power, the Mate9 is one of the first Huawei devices to come with Android Nougat out of the box. Now that’s a win-win!
Other than that, the smartphone is equipped with all other features that make the device up to date with the latest requirements of the smartphone world. Some of these include optional dual-SIM capability, 64GB of internal storage plus an external card slot, a responsive fingerprint scanner at its back while also containing a large 4000 mAh battery that promises good battery life for a smartphone as large as the Mate9. We’ll sign off singing its praises by revealing that the smartphone will come in 6 different color ranges!
Mate 9’s expected price and launch date in Pakistan?
Unlike Apple, Huawei officially markets its smartphones in Pakistan. The Mate 9 is expected to hit the shelves come 3rd week of November so we’re optimistic that the smartphone will reach Pakistan as soon as it sees its worldwide retail. The phablet is expected to begin selling at $600 which roughly translates to around 63,000 rupees with 1 year warranty in our country but as is always the case with many smartphones, we do expect its price to sharply go down to around 55,000 rupees in a matter of months.
So, it’d be best to hold on to your horses for a little while and save up big-time! Keep an eye out for its lowest prices in Pakistan right here on our website as soon as it gets released.
