Like many other smartphone manufacturers, Samsung markets its smartphones in many different flavors. The Galaxy S and Note series are its flagship bearers while the Galaxy J, A, Alpha etc. series target all kinds of price brackets. As of 2016, we’re seeing a different kind of flavor in the South Korean giants ranks; we’re talking about the Galaxy C series.
The Galaxy C series, just like the A series, targets the upper-mid and mid ranged smartphones. While the Galaxy A series features a classic glass-like build and some sleek waists, the Galaxy C series features pure metal unibodies. Other than that, both series feature wholesome specifications.
So far, we’ve only seen two Galaxy C series smartphones in the form of the Galaxy C7 and the Galaxy C5. This has prompted us to wonder, like you, what are the two smartphones really about and how do they differ from each other? So, to answer all of these queries, here’s a comprehensive comparison between the Samsung Galaxy C7 and the Galaxy C5.
Build quality and display
Both the Galaxy C5 and C7 were released in May, 2016. Apart from their release date, they also feature some other similarities. Starting off with their build quality; both the smartphones feature a metal unibody design that is extremely gorgeous to look at and gives an HTC-ish feel. The back features antenna bands, first seen on the iPhone 6, that run through its width.
The Galaxy C7’s display features a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED capacitive 2.5D curved edge touchscreen with 386ppi pixel density. It allows 1080p HD resolution and the display covers 74.1% of the smartphone’s front panel. The Galaxy C7 is 6.8mm thick which is outstanding but it does not feature any waterproofing. It weighs in at 169g which is a tad heavy for a smartphone that is 6.8mm thin but that’s probably because of its metallic build or larger battery.
The Galaxy C5 on the other hand features a 5.2 inch Super AMOLED capacitive 2.5D curved edge touchscreen with 424ppi pixel density. This automatically results in a crisp 1080p HD resolution and the display covers less than three-quarters of the smartphones front. The device is 6.7mm thin which is more than enough to make an appearance in Hollywood. It also weighs in at 143g which is a full 26g less than its larger counterpart.
Both the smartphones are near-identical quantities with only their weights and screen sizes being the biggest differences between the two. The C7 also features more pixel density but it is hard to argue how much of a difference does that make as both of them feature 1080p HD resolution.
Cameras
Both the Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7 feature exactly the same cameras. Speaking in numbers, both feature a 16 megapixel primary sensor with a dual-tone LED flash but no OIS or phase detection. That’s pretty odd as we believe that at least one of these features should’ve been a part of their primary cameras to give them more muscle. However, we do believe that they’ll perform better than your expectations. After all, its a 16 megapixel Samsung camera we’re talking about here.
The selfie camera on the Galaxy C7 and C5 has all our respects with a hunky 8 megapixel sensor which is sure to take good care of your selfie needs. In short, just go out there and let the Galaxies do the talking.
Nothing much when it comes to analysis here as both the smartphones feature 100% similar cameras and neither features an improvement over the other.
Performance and hardware
Just like their cameras, the performance and hardware of the Galaxy C7 and C5 are very similar albeit with one or two differences. Both the smartphones feature Octa-Core processors with 4GB of RAM which is more than enough to properly run the built-in Android Marshmallow. They’re marketed in 32 and 64GB internal storage variants and both also feature a fingerprint sensor.
Some small differences between the two include the C7 housing Fast Charge technology while the C5 does not, different GPUs and the C7 having a much larger battery (3300 mAh) compared to the C5 (2600 mAh).
The aforementioned features of the Galaxy C7 which include a larger battery and Fast Charge technology are the only two major differences between the two smartphones. The larger battery is bound to provide much more battery life compared to the C5 while Fast Charge is an added luxury giving you a slight reason to consider the C7 more than the C5.
The verdict
Honestly, we can’t separate the two. Both are nearly similar and in the end, the display might be the only feature that will divide people in choosing one of these. Perhaps the deciding factor will be the price, which you will of course find on our parent site, PriceOye.pk. Here are the quick links:
- Galaxy C5 price in Pakistan: Rs. 40,000 (as of typing)
- Galaxy C7 price in Pakistan: Rs. 48,000 (as of typing)
It all comes down to personal preference in the end. Which one made the cut for you? We’re very eager to hear!
