In the midst we know as the smartphone world, the Apples’ and the Androids’ are the ones making the headlines all the time. With some excellent releases that would even please the creators themselves, one can have no arguments about the abilities and prowess of those smartphones. That leads to many other jaw-dropping releases to not receive the recognition they deserve and such is rightfully echoed by the Nokia Lumia 930.
In the age where Android and iOS are taking all the plaudits, we’ve almost forgotten about the very existence of Lumia phones let alone Nokia itself. Something just didn’t feel right on a routine day and upon a lot of thinking we came to the conclusion that something known as Windows phones also exist and they are not getting the applause they deserve. This is why we’re here before our viewers to enlighten them about the best Windows phone in Pakistan; we’re undoubtedly talking about the Nokia Lumia 930.
Pricing
The Nokia Lumia 930 was a premium flagship material smartphone at the time of its debut. It was released with a price in excess of 50,000 rupees in Pakistan in 2014 and fast-forward 2 years from then, its price has predictably plummeted down to a much more affordable amount nowadays, to around Rs. 26,000.

Regarding its warranty, Nokia does officially sell Lumias in Pakistan which means you’re likely to receive the customary 1 year warranty on the Lumia 930. Online stores are more renowned for offering warranty as well but be sure to check that before you make your purchase. Better safe than sorry, right?
Build quality and display
Even though Nokia has had to go through a steep fall from grace, there’s no denying that the Finnish company was producing some premium quality cell and smartphones. Nokia’s prowess in coming up with beautiful products is something they’ve done since day one and the Lumia 930 is no such different.
The smartphone features a poly-carbonate back while a shiny aluminum frame separates it from the front panel. The back can come in a number of colors including orange, green, black etc. and each of them in their own right are uniquely refreshing to look at.
Its display in numbers is a 5.0 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 441ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. You don’t really see this much pixel density inside a Windows device and we were equally pleased to hear that the smartphone features 1080p HD resolution because of that. The smartphone is bulky though, 9.8mm width, but this ensures that the 167g weight seems well distributed.
Cameras
Remember the sumptuous 3.2 megapixel camera from the Nokia N73? Amazing it was, wasn’t it? Nokia has always produced some of the best cameras and they’ve stayed true to their commitment in the Lumia 930 as well.
The primary PureView camera features a gigantic 20 megapixel sensor with some notable features which include OIS, autofocus and a dual-tone LED flash. Some benchmark testing has proven some excellent results while we’re disappointed to see a miser 1.2 megapixel selfie sensor. It should’ve been at-least a 5 megapixel one. One can consider this as the only blot on an otherwise catchy CV.
Performance and hardware
Windows phones generally are said to perform better than Android smartphones with a lot less processing power and RAM. Nokia didn’t fall for this theory though as the Lumia 930 is stuffed with a Quad-Core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 processor with a supportive 2GB of RAM. Trust us, this is more than enough power required to seamlessly run the Windows Phone 8.1 OS while the internal storage count at 32GB was indeed satisfying.
The memory card slot is absent but Dolby Digital Plus speakers will ensure the provision of good quality music. A non-removable 2420 mAh battery will likely provide at-least a day’s worth of smartphone usage as well.
Bonus recommendation
You might be wondering that the Nokia Lumia 930 is an 2 old smartphone and this time frame means its unlikely to support recent software updates and apps. That is quite correct as the Lumia 930 works with built-in Windows Phone 8.1 OS (not the latest Windows Phone 10) which “can” mean that the already less options when it comes to Windows Store apps can narrow down even further.
If you’re a user who prefers uncompromising performance, supreme cameras and a premium build, we’d stand by the Nokia 930 chin-up as its specifications steamroll all other recent Lumias. But if you think you’re more of an apps guy and the older software of the Lumia 930 might come in between you and your apps later on, we’d recommend you to take a look at the Microsoft Lumia 650.

This smartphone only saw the market shelves come 2016 and we’re pleased to announce that it features the latest Microsoft Windows 10 OS. The smartphone has premium looks with a finely crafted plastic back that curves into the metal frame that separates the back and front panels. The smartphone’s dimensions are finely optimized as the 6.9mm width and an amazingly slender 122g weight will give it a premium feel in your palm.
It is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad-Core processor with 1GB of RAM on top of which sits a 5.0 inches OLED capacitive touchscreen. The display features 297ppi pixel density which translates into a 720p resolution. This and the 1GB RAM will seem to be low-key quantities but the extensive software/hardware optimizations of the Windows 10 will likely provide a smooth user experience.
Its cameras stand at 8 megapixels for the primary shutter while the selfie camera features a 5 megapixel sensor. The selfie camera seems satisfactory while we won’t blame you at all if you’re looking for a larger primary sensor. Still, we expect them to perform decently as 2016 is no place for complacent cameras.
So this is where we take the backseat and let you take the wheel. We’ve done our job in providing you with exactly what you need to know about the Nokia Lumia 930 and now it’s time for you to make a decision. We humbly accept your concerns regarding the lack of Apps Windows Store finds itself in but in our opinion, apart from some nifty privacy apps such as Applock and a whole load of good games, the Windows Store will somehow manage to cater for your everyday needs.
