Plus models, be it in the fashion or mobile industry, have gained a-lot more significance in the past couple of years. After Apple became probably the first company to come up with its own set of “Plus” models, Samsung followed suit with the S6 Edge+ and now with the all-new Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus with 85,000 as its price in Pakistan as of October 2019.
After weeks of speculation, we can finally confirm that the latest Galaxy S8 will come in two variants; pretty much in the same way Apple did with its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. However, the difference in specs isn’t much when compared to the aforementioned smartphones. The S8 Plus will only feature a larger display in comparison to the smaller Galaxy S8. What else? Let’s see.
A totally revamped, never seen before design
One of the most exciting aspects of the Galaxy S8 was the imminent revamp of its design. From head to toe, the smartphone has completely changed shape. It has extremely thin bezels coming into play to accommodate a larger screen. The reason for using thinner bezels is to ensure that the smartphone doesn’t significantly increase in size. While on the same side, hold the capacity to shelter an even larger screen.
The customary home button has also moved on and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, just beside the back camera setup. A dual-glass build with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection compliments some nice dimensions with an 8mm width. Oh, we almost forgot to mention IP68 dust and waterproofing!
Phablet-sized quality display
Contrary to popular belief, the S8 Plus will feature a 6.2 inches Super AMOLED curved touchscreen with 474ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Translating into a wonderful 1440p HD resolution, you’ll get supreme graphics atop the phablet-sized display. A mini-home theater anyone?
No dual-camera setup just yet!
The rumor-mill threw quite a-lot of sumptuous rumors at us coming into the final stretch of the S8 Plus’s advent. One of these was the potential addition of dual-primary camera lenses in the smartphone but that’s not the case.
Instead, the Galaxy S8 Plus will feature a similar 12 dual-pixel primary camera to the Galaxy S7 Edge. You’ve no reason to complain as the camera sensor’s prowess is well documented and gives stunning results in all-kinds of lightening conditions. It is a plus-point that you won’t get with many camera sensors. Heavyweight features such as phase detection autofocus, OIS and an LED flash duly play their part to bring increased quality to your snaps.
The selfie sensor features 8 megapixels worth of power. Considering Samsung’s all-round camera prowess, there’s no reason to look for an even larger sensor. To be honest, we did expect the South Korean giants to buff it up a little bit.
Uncompromising performance, delivered
That’s been made possible due to the fact that the Galaxy S8 Plus is powered by a hybrid Octa-Core processor with 4 gigs of RAM. Coming out of the box with Android Nougat, you’re sure to get a wonderful user experience atop the large 6.2 inches display. Its internal storage banks at either 64 or 128 gigs depending on the variant you choose to buy.
Two of the most coveted features of the Galaxy S8 Plus are its iris scanner and Bixby virtual assistant. You may have heard about the iris scanner from the days of the Note 7 but Bixby is something new; it’s a virtual assistant much like Siri and has its own dedicated button that is used to call upon its services whenever needed. The iris scanner is exactly like the Note 7 had and hopefully now you’ll get your hands on it for a longer time.
Other than these, the Samsung desktop experience allows you to connect mouse, keyboard etc. to the Galaxy S8 Plus and USB type-C, fast charging and a large 3750 mAh battery are all you need to know about the much anticipated flagship.
