Best Huawei phones of 2016 (that are available in Pakistan)

Huawei is a true revolution in the world of smartphones. While the Apples and Samsungs went strength to strength with their smartphones in wholesome prices, it was Huawei that intervened and said:”Hey! I can do that in much less cash!”So that is where the company took off and now has established itself as one of the heavyweights of the smartphone world.

This journey was by no means an easy one. After a couple of years of mistrust, I finally got to test the Huawei Ascend P7 and boy were we stumped by its build quality and performance. Since then, times have drastically changed for the Chinese manufacturer with encroachments in all sorts of price categories; this brings us to brew a special cocktail for our users that comprises of the best Huawei phones of 2016.

Note that the smartphones will come from all price ranges as our primary target is to enlighten you about the best Huawei has yet to offer and not the best cheapest ones.

#10 Huawei Mate8

Price: ~Rs. 51,000

We’ll begin our compilation with one of Huawei’s most dearest phablets; the Mate8 is the latest of the phablet carrying Huawei Mate series (although the Mate9 is just around the corner). With specifications which only Huawei can offer, the Mate8 is more than enough to give your taste buds a hit.

Some of those wholesome features include a 6.0 inches 1080p HD resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, 3 or 4GB of variant dependent RAM, a 16 megapixel primary and 8 megapixel selfie camera as well as Fast Charge and a large 4000 mAh battery which promises more than a day’s battery life.

#9 Huawei Mate S

Price: ~Rs. 44,000

A smartphone that mirrors many HTC devices and Samsung’s Galaxy C5, the Mate S is another Huawei device that received immaculate responses upon its release in 2015. A proper flagship-like device with sumptuous specifications, the Mate S is not just about what is underneath its hood but also about what’s on its surface.

The strongest points of the Mate S is its sexy 7.2mm waist, a 5.5 inches 1080p HD touchscreen, Quad-Core processor with 3GB of RAM and a powerful 13 megapixel primary camera with OIS. The selfie camera is no slouch either with an 8 megapixel sensor while Fast Charge and starting 32GB internal storage are its other notable mentions.

#8 Huawei Shot X

Price: ~Rs. 26,000

Whenever a smartphone receives an official confirmation, the first thing we at PriceOye look for is whether it has brought something new to the table or not. When the Shot X came about, we were very pleased to see its most crowning feature make a name for itself as that was what distinguished the device from all other smartphones and also reminded us about the Nokia N90; we’re talking about its rotatable 13 megapixel camera.

The camera and its LED can be flipped at will to form either a selfie or primary camera at will. That means, selfies and other photography will both receive equal treatment while its processing is well taken care off by its Quad-Core processor and 2-3GB of variant dependent RAM. A 5.2 inches 1080p HD touchscreen is a definite plus as well among many other features.

#7 Huawei P8max

Price: ~50,000

Just like all other smartphone manufacturers, each brand name has a distinctive quality associated with it. When it comes to the P series, its excellent build in some of the most amazing dimensions are what stands out above the rest. Such is the case with the P8max.

With a 6.8mm width and an aluminum body, this baby is sure to catch your attention. Probably Huawei’s biggest smartphone to date, the P8max houses a 6.8 inches 1080p HD touchscreen on its front panel while underneath its aluminum back lies 64 gigs of internal storage and an Octa-Core processor with 3GB of RAM. The camera stands at 13 megapixels for the primary with OIS while the 5 megapixel selfie sensor is a tad small in our opinion.

#6 Huawei Honor 6

Price: ~Rs. 35,000

Ever heard about dual-camera lenses? We’re sure you have as the iPhone 7 Plus and the Huawei P9 Plus have seriously brought this new technology into the limelight. But, nobody really remembers one of the earliest smartphones to receive dual-camera prowess; it was indeed the Honor 6.

The Honor 6 unfortunately didn’t really make a lot of noise upon its release and we’re amazed why it didn’t. With a powerful 13 megapixel dual-primary sensor similar to the HTC One M8 and other goodies which include a 5 inches 1080p HD touchscreen, 3GB of RAM and a slender 130g weight plus a 7.5mm waist, the Honor 6 probably has done as much as it could to bring honour to Huawei.

#5 Huawei Honor 4C

Price: ~Rs. 16,000

Let’s take our attention off the more expensive price brackets and focus a little bit more on the budget side of things. The Huwei Honor 4C belongs to our personally tried and tested smartphones and we can sure as hell tell you that the smartphone is a true gem within the amount you’re going to pay for it.

With an excellent 13 megapixel primary camera, a beautiful 720p touchscreen and a smooth performance made possible by 2GB of RAM and a Quad-Core processor, the 4C is one of the most nifty Huawei devices out there in the market.

#4 Huawei P9 Plus

Price: ~Rs. 60,000

Back to the more expensive side of the story; the Huawei P9 Plus is the latest of the prodigious P series and it has only one thing on its mind: To become the flagship Huawei never had. The smartphone is a supreme mixture of specs and build alike and we were thoroughly impressed by the way the P9 Plus performed on all fronts.

The smartphone makes use of one of the most advanced dual-primary cameras in the world with a 12 megapixel dual sensor powered by an intelligent image signal processor at its back. The 1080p 5.5 inches touchscreen, Octa-Core processor with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and an 8 megapixel selfie camera round off a remarkable flagship from the Chinese manufacturer.

#3 Huawei Honor V8

Price: ~Rs. 65,000

Though not yet in the Pakistani market, the Honor V8 is sure to be a huge hit not just in our country but in the whole world because of its premium build and powerful specifications. The above image says it all, doesn’t it?

The Honor V8 further adds fuel to the dual-lens camera technology which many smartphone manufacturers throughout the world are now increasingly making use off. The smartphone features a 12 megapixel dual-lens primary camera which will undoubtedly produce high-end photo and video-graphy as well as other noticeable features that include a variant dependent 5.7 inches 1080p or 1440p HD touchscreen, 4GB of RAM, 8 megapixel selfie camera and USB Type-C technology.

#2 Huawei P9 Lite

Price: ~Rs. 26,000

The P9 Lite is another entrant in the close-to-budget smartphones category. The smartphone is a powerhouse of specifications and is only Lite by name. That is because its larger counterparts, the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus are both super-smartphones which makes the lighter P9 seem a weaker quantity.

The P9 Lite only misses out on the dual-lens primary camera technology from its larger siblings. Other than that, the smartphone is loaded with features which include a 5.2 inches 1080p HD touchscreen, 2/3GB of variant dependent RAM and two incredible cameras in the form of a 13 megapixel primary plus 8 megapixel secondary sensor. 16GB of internal storage and a fingerprint sensor embedded on its back panel are its other notable features.

#1 Huawei Nexus 6P

Price: ~Rs. 62,000

It had to be right? The Nexus 6P is not just one of the best Huawei devices we’ve seen but it’s also one of the best smartphones ever to be assembled. While Nexus smartphones mostly receive all the plaudits for their lag-free and super-fast performance, the Nexus 6P is something much more than just that.

Featuring a full aluminum unibody design with a 7.3mm width, a 5.7 inches 1440p HD touchscreen and 178g weight, the Nexus 6P is a true force of nature. Octa-Core processors with an additional 3GB of RAM, two excellent cameras in the from of a 12.3 megapixel primary camera with laser autofocus and an 8 megapixel selfie sensor plus a large 3450 mAh battery are its most well known features. If you’re curious to about what the round thing is on the Nexus 6P’s back in the above image, it’s the responsive fingerprint sensor (wink!).

That’s all about the best Huawei smartphones as of 2016. As always, it was a pleasure getting to know Huawei devices in a little more depth and detail as this Chinese manufacturer has a knack of producing something out of the box. After a slow and steady start, the company has firmly established itself as a genuine force to be reckoned with in the smartphone world with most of the credit going to some sumptuous releases such as the P9 Plus, Nexus 6P, Honor 7 among many many others.

All these smartphones are excellent devices from all fronts while their pricing is fully merited by what is stuffed inside them. As Huawei officially sells smartphones in Pakistan, you’re also guaranteed a 1 year warranty with each of your purchases.
