Samsung is absolutely steamrolling 2016 with some stunning releases. It feels as if Samsung has had enough of Apple’s dominance which seems to be the catalyst behind Samsung’s constant bombardment of sumptuous smartphones. This isn’t the first time we’re seeing the word “Prime” being used by Samsung as some other notable releases from the company include Galaxy Core Prime and the Galaxy Grand Prime etc. have used a similar naming scheme. The Prime smartphone is released more or less in the same year when its simple counterpart is released albeit with improved specifications. Such is the case with the Galaxy J7 Prime; this latest announcement is a definite increment on its predecessor, the Galaxy J7 2016. Let’s delve into its specifications to help you get acquainted with Samsung’s latest release.
Display and build quality
The Galaxy J7 Prime will feature a 5.5 inch IPS LCD capactive touchscreen with 401ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. This means that the J7 Prime will support a 1080p resolution which is excellent news as it will bring much sharper graphics to the plate.
With regards to the build quality, the J7 Prime will feature a unibody design with an 8.1mm width but we’re not sure whether it comprises entirely out of metal, plastic or something in between. However, the official images do give a positive impression of the upcoming release compared to its predecessor.
Camera
The Galaxy J7 Prime is will feature a 100% similar primary camera to the J7 2016. Speaking in numbers, it’ll feature a 13 megapixel sensor with f/1.9 aperture but no OIS or phase detection. That being said, there remains no margin for error as Samsung’s cameras have always known to perform extremely well. The secondary camera will receive a major bump as it will debut with an 8 megapixel sensor and an LED flash.
The front facing LED flash is becoming somewhat of a growing trend among smartphones and it is an excellent step from Samsung to regularly include this in their smartphones.
Performance and hardware
The hardware section of the J7 Prime sees some huge changes from the previous Galaxy J7 2016. The upcoming release will feature a Octa-Core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 processor with an additional 3GB of RAM. This amount of processing power is excellent while anything above 2GB of RAM is music to ears. The J7 Prime will also see an increased amount of storage capacity as it’ll be marketed in a 32GB variant only. Though, you can further increase storage through the external card slot.
Other than that, the addition of the fingerprint sensor embedded underneath the home button is a news which is sure to get people bouncing with excitement.
