Smartphones have become an integral part of our society. Their quick integration is mostly down to the fact that everyone requires what they have in store to operate his/her life in an efficient manner. Whether it is the clocks app or Shazam, one can simply do anything with this device.
While previously most of the computing was done using desktops and laptops, smartphones have broken this deadlock and have proven themselves as an alternative for quick computing on the go. As technology is advancing, so is the need for faster mobile Internet speeds which have led to the birth of 3G and 4G. Our country is relatively new to this technology whereas the west is preparing to jet off on 5G.
With 3G and 4G relatively new to town, many smartphones do posses 3G support but lack in “LTE” or 4G support. 4G is the latest increment to the mobile phone Internet generation which aims to further speed up its capability to send and receive data in a much faster manner. To ensure that you can make the most out of mobile Internet’s latest generation, which is already in-effect to takeover from 3G, here’s a guide of the top 10 3G/4G budget phones in Pakistan.
#10 LG Nexus 5X
Price: Rs. 25,000-30,000.
LG was given the opportunity to produce Nexus smartphones for 2 years and boy they did not disappoint. After the huge successes of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, the public called for something fresh and much more powerful while also being aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Google and LG obliged; We got to see the Nexus 5X as a result.
The Nexus 5X is, to say the very least, one of the most outstanding smartphones of its generation. Extremely beautiful to look at, very light to hold and satisfactory to use, the Nexus 5X literally ticks all the boxes. Personally tried and tested by us here at PriceOye, it is excellently crafted from all angles. Other than a ton of other qualities, both 3G and 4G support are some of its important features.
#9 Haier Esteem i90
Price: Rs. ~24,000.
Haier is growing in strength day by day as it is doing what Chinese manufacturers do best; Create premium material smartphones within the most reasonable of prices. The Haier Esteem i90 is the company’s flagship bearer hence it is the best the company has to offer, yet.
Other than some excellent features that include a 13 megapixel primary camera, 5 megapixel selfie camera and Dual-SIM capabilities it supports both 3G and 4G. Therefore, don’t worry! You won’t fall behind with the Esteem i90 in your pocket.
#8 Huawei Honor 5X
Price: Rs. 20,000-30,000.
Huawei has become one of the mainstays of smartphone manufacturing. Its secret recipe is simple and very synonymous with most other Chinese manufacturers; 100% value for money products. When it comes to the Honor 5X, one can simply say that it is indeed a Huawei production.
The reason is that it contains all that an excellent smartphone should have that includes an excellent 13 megapixel primary camera, a gorgeous 5.5 inch display and 2GB of RAM. That’s not all as it contains some other notable features which are capped off by both 3G and 4G support.
#7 Xiaomi Mi 4
Price: Rs. ~25,000.
We first heard about Xiaomi some 7-8 years ago. At that time, the company was an unknown quantity but its Xiaomi Redmi and Mi smartphones simply blew our heads apart because of their jaw-dropping specifications in the most unimaginable prices ever. Since then, the world has been swarmed by many other Chinese manufacturers providing the same material but it was Xiaomi that was probably the first in line.
This Xiaomi production is every bit what we’ve talked about above and the Mi 4 is as good as anything can get. With a 5.0 inch 441ppi pixel density display among other muscular features, the Mi 4 is worth every rupee you’ll pay for it. Oops! We nearly forgot its 3G and LTE capabilities!
#6 Samsung Galaxy J7 2016
Price: Rs. 25,000-35,000.
When the first Galaxy J7 came along in 2015, it wasn’t something that made people jump in the air and proclaim it as their savior. Samsung’s motives behind it were understandable as it was sent to target the lower mid-ranged smartphone market but it nevertheless, failed to impress.
The same cannot be said of the Galaxy J7 2016 however as this baby comes in with some nice upgrades compared to its predecessor that include improved RAM, camera and faster cores. Among numerous other increments, 4G support is also a part of the J7.
#5 OnePlus X
Price: Rs. ~33,000.
We previously mentioned a swarm of Chinese manufacturers taking the world by storm. OnePlus proudly claims to be one of them and we can say with confidence that the company is definitely close to the very top of that pile. Thanks largely in general to releases such as the OnePlus X, these kind of smartphones are doing every bit they can to spoil us.
Build along similar lines to the Sony Xperia Z series, it has proven itself to be extremely competitive on all fronts. It shelters some sumptuous features which include 3GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel selfie camera and a 441ppi pixel density 5.0 inches display. Other than these, the OnePlus X is also home to 4G capability as well.
#4 LG G3
Price: Rs. ~30,000.
If there’s one flagship series which has received plaudits from the very first day, it is LG’s G series. Known for its beautiful displays and superb camera capabilities, the G series also has the distinction of being able to shelter some huge displays within the smallest of dimensions.
The LG G3 has two variants and we’d recommend the one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage as that variant has 4G capability whereas its sibling, the 16GB variant, is devoid of this quality. Not only will you get more storage and 4G support with the 32GB variant, it also is home to more RAM which is a fundamental trait among smartphones and computers alike.
#3 Infinix Note 2
Price: Rs. ~16,000.
Infinix is set to make a huge impact in our country as it has the capacity to do the impossible. By the impossible we mean taking a start with releases such as the Hot 3 and Note 2, who knows what they’ll be able to pull off in the near future.
The Note 2 is probably home to the largest display within this price range. With a gigantic 6 inch size, it’ll take some sniffing to find a smartphone with a bigger display. While the display is its highlight, some of its other notable features include 2GB of RAM, a 13 megapixel primary camera and dual 3G and 4G support.
#2 Lenovo ZUK Z1
Price: Rs. 23,000-33,000.
Lenovo ZUK Z1 and its specifications have one major thing in common; They’re both out of the ordinary. You must be wondering what “ZUK” stands for. It is the name of another Chinese manufacturer with whom Lenovo partnered up and came up with this smartphone.
The Lenovo ZUK Z1 is a powerhouse of features that simply took our breath away. A grand mixture of 64GB internal storage, 3GB of RAM, 13 megapixel primary plus 8 megapixel selfie camera and fingerprint sensor are extremely hard to fathom within this price. All in all with Fast Charge technology and 4G support also in the bag, the Lenovo ZUK Z1 is nothing short of a goldmine.
#1 Huawei Shot X
Price: Rs. ~29,000.
Nowadays, tinkering with smartphone cameras has become a common thing. We’ve already seen Huawei release a dual-lens camera smartphone and it is expected that Apple will soon follow suit with the iPhone 7 Plus. Another feature namely rotatable cameras is also becoming famous with Oppo famously coming up with the idea sometime ago with the N1. This time, Huawei has followed suit and have embedded something similar into its Shot X smartphone.
The Shot X’s highlight is its 13 megapixel primary camera which can be flipped to form a selfie camera at will. Not only does the lens flip but the dual-tone LED flash also follows up making this 4G capable device have a unique identity among many other smartphones.
With this we come to the end of our compilation of the top 10 3G/4G budget phones in Pakistan, at least for 2016. As you could’ve noticed from the entrants of this list, they are not all about 3G and 4G capabilities but have much more in them.
You might be thinking as to why did we feel the need to compile a 3G/4G list of smartphones to which our answer is simple: Knowing that 4G is almost completely ready to take over mobile Internet very soon (Zong and some other companies have already upgraded to it), we wouldn’t want you not to be able to avail this fantastic piece of technology quite simply due to not being aware of the fact that the smartphone you’ve purchased cannot support it.
Each smartphone is thoroughly impressive in its own way and many of these have very little to choose between them. Which smartphone impressed you the most? Did we miss an entry you think should’ve been a part of this list? Do let us know your feedback in the comments below.
